Thank you so much for this video. I don't understand why we don't teach this to beginner knitters. They all make scarves first and you can get so discouraged because your work looks great in the middle and the ends looks terrible because they don't match! I never thought I would find an answer to my question about this problem. Thanks again.

I absolutely love this! Having a cast on that matches the 'normal' bind off has always been a knitting dilemma for me; and you have now given the solution! Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge, as well as giving a video tutorial for those of us who are better able to "watch and learn". Happy New Year of Knitting! 👌

I absolutely love your methods of teaching especially the clear visuals which I favour as I'm a visual learner. Your vast knowledge in this craft is obvious and appreciated. I have never enjoyed casting on but I have just now attempted (with success) the method you demonstrated above using 2 needles. The result is beautiful; my skill has improved...thank you for sharing 😊

Maryna, this is the solution I was searching for! All the cast on methods I was using looked-well, let’s say they were less-than-appealing to the eye. 😂 This method worked perfectly for me, and the bottom of my new sweater will look so pretty now. Thank you so much for sharing all of your expertise with us!! 😁❤️

I wish I could post a pic. Thank you so very much for your wonderful tutorials! Knitting with ♥️ and 10 rows a day!

Wonderful video as always! Great job! I really like the looks of this cast on and I was wondering if you would consider it to be stretchy enough to use for a hat or top-down sweater neckline?
@10rowsaday
@10rowsaday 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Sharon :-) This cast on is about as stretchy as the regular bind off. It might work well for a loose hat and for a top-down sweater with a not-too-tight neckline. A lot depends on the fit of the project, so it's always a good idea to make a swatch first. Happy knitting!

You said slip first and purl last to get braided look on edges too--do you slip knitwise or purlwise & does it matter if you are purling whole row, or when doing ribbing?
@10rowsaday
@10rowsaday 5 жыл бұрын
Jules, to get the chains at the edges, slip (purlwise with the yarn at the back of the work) the first stitch and purl the last stitch of every row regardless of the stitch pattern you are using. To make sure the edge stitches do not disrupt the pattern, add two stitches to the number of stitches you cast on. These stitches will be "dedicated" to give a nice look to the edges of your project. There are more details about edge stitches + a few other ways to make nice edges at www.10rowsaday.com/neat-edges Happy knitting :-)

I think these matching edges would look perfect for a cowl. But are they stretchy enough?
@10rowsaday
@10rowsaday 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Nola. This cast on is about as stretchy as the regular bind off. It will look nice on a cowl, but a lot depends on the yarn and the stitch pattern you use. The best way to know for sure is to make a swatch. Happy knitting :-)

It is simply the crochet cast on; done using a knitting needle instead of a crochet hook. Great if you don't have a crochet hook handy!

Will this match a stretchy bind off?
@10rowsaday

Hi Collene. This cast on is as elastic as the regular bind off. For ways to make stretchy cast ons, take a look at this video - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gMyTd7Nzl8zDXZc.html Happy knitting :-)
