Casteism vs ‘Vishwaguru dream’: A roundtable on caste bias at workplaces in India | Out tomorrow

In June, an IIM Bengaluru professor accused his colleagues of caste-based discrimination. He wrote letters of complaint to Karnataka Social Welfare Department and even President Droupadi Murmu, saying that besides him, 50 percent of students on campus were from backward communities and faced discrimination regularly.
But the alleged ordeal at IIM Bengaluru isn’t isolated. Many from marginalised communities have reported caste discrimination at educational institutes and workplaces. Newslaundry spoke to three senior employees of top government institutions on the malaise in the system.
Professor Onkar Mal, former faculty member of IMD Gurgaon and BITS Pilani and former employee at ONGC; Nagsen Sonare, former senior employee at ONGC; and Hridaya Narain, former senior employee at Air India, shared their lived experiences.

My gut feeling is most of them are lying through their teeth. They know they get mileage and sympathy easily. Most of their claims have been falsified even in foreign universities. They should be sued for defamation

RSS/BJP does not want to relieve Shudra from its slavery. Hence opposing cast census! Shudra from the Southern States have mostly set themselves free from this Sanatana Slavary and progressed well. All those who don't wear Janeu are the Shudra population.

So that discrimination will be rampant again? I know your heart is in the right place, but this method will ensure that the historically oppressed will be oppressed again since there will be no protections for them. Please come up with a better way that ensures that historically oppressed have a fair chance, until then reservation is a necessary, albeit flawed, system.

Why making an issue about CASTE BASED RESERVATION... Why not economical reservation... Just trivialising sensitive issues for views... General category Wale bhi gareeb hai and caste Wale bhi Ameer hai.. Dr Ambedkar good deed of introducing reservation has not percolated to the grass root level.. Need to change it... Caste based reservation has helped in creating divide in the society one of the tools for politicians.. Have discussion on ECONOMY BASED RESERVATION...
