Today I wanted to cast some 7.62x39mm projectiles. Unfortunately I don't have the handles I need for the mold. So I settled on the .358 diameter. This fits the 357 Magnum as well as the 38 Special. I didn't have any of these casted yet. I want to keep adding to my collection. I need to come up with a goal to work towards. Leave a comment and let need know what you think a good goal would be.
I have some interesting videos coming up, If you like my videos, make sure to subscribe to my channel, and also hit the bell so you get notified when I post another video.
I hope you had a good week. Enjoy your weekend. Stay safe out there.

Curious what you added into the alloy for hardness, I've used magnum shot to temper soft lead. Easy to measure and melt for high antimony. Also get a slotted spoon for dross. Those seemed to cast well. Just get a mallet handle and a towel in water drop pail. A wet sponge is a good safer way to cool a mould also.

I think the number one goal for any bullet is accuracy. Nice looking bullets. I cast for my .357 magnum rifle. The most accurate bullet I cast is a Lee C358-200-RF. These bullets are the correct diameter, but can be a bit too long loaded into .357 cases and are likely to jam in a lever rifle. My rifle is a single shot so it isn't a problem. The Lee 358-125-RF shoots fairly well for me at both slow and fast velocities... I've pushed them up to around 1500 fps lubed with Lee Liquid Alox. I never got the accuracy I desired from the Lee SWC bullets, but I prefer to shoot at slower speeds and I probably would have achieved better groups at faster velocities. I have stopped bothering about adding tin or antimony to my lead. I like to feel free to use whatever scrap I can find. I mostly shoot these bullets just under the speed of sound. I do my casting in an outside shed with the door kept open for ventilation, and lately I've been wearing a fine particle mask to avoid inhaling the dust created by the slag. I wear leather gloves when casting, and I avoid hitting the mould to release the bullets. Sometimes they fall out when I simply shake the mould, sometimes I push them with a gloved finger. I would not eat or drink anywhere near the area where I cast. In addition to my Lee moulds, I have some made by Cast Bullet Engineering in Australia which are very good. I have two CBE semiwadcutter moulds that I like... one is a 210 grain and the other is a 140 grain. I have to size both of these to get them into case more easily. If I had to pick just one of my CBE moulds, it would currently be the CBE358-180-RFBB which casts bullets with a bevel base which makes reloading a lot easier. These seem to be the most accurate of my CBE bullets over a range of speeds and when lubed with either a home-brewed wax lube or the very convenient Lee Alox. Best wishes from New Zealand.

You should try that lee c358-200-38 in 38 special cases I believe they will cycle in your lever gun

@@Johnny-jr2lq That is a good idea thanks. However I sold my lever action .357. It had a slow rifling twist which seemed to work fine with lighter bullets, but I didn't find a load that grouped well when I used heavier projectiles. It would also fling my precious cartridge cases into the scrub ! My Bergara BA13 single-shot shoots the heavy bullets well.

You should wear some gloves at least. You’re risking cancer touching all that lead
