The beginning of the castle's construction was in 1355 subsequest construction continues to the 1st half of the 15th century. By the year 1580 the castle no longer serve its purpose and it administration centre only. In the 1593 the castle is sold to city of Prachatice but for taking part in the lost battle of the White mountain the castle is confiscated by Habsburks. The last noble house of Schwarzenberks lost the castle to the state due to new law in 1922. The local group of people opens castle to public.
After 1945 the castle is fully in state possetion. In the 90s the castle is given under ownership of city Bavorov which own it preserve it to this day.
