I really wish they didnt do the whole "most powerful avenger" thing when they first started production. Intro movies for marvel have never been the best movie but by hyping it up like this they put it under a microscope that the other intro movies weren't.

rebooted Carol has always felt bland to me, even in the comics. I actually kinda miss when Carol was (and I'm boiling her down immensely, I know) an alcoholic with cosmic-level powers, because at least there was something interesting there.

She didn't really evolve as a character in the movie, nor did she make any real mistakes. Her entire character arc was basically "Boy, I sure am awesome. I guess I'll keep being awesome!"

I walked out of Captain Marvel thinking "that was great!" but time removed from it has really drooped my opinion. And that's despite the one scene where you actually feel the directors behind the camera (the Maria reunion scene).

Mar-Vell was a Captain in the Kree he just went by his name and title but humans thought he was using an alias. Bre Larson making an ass out of herself is more comic accurate and true to the character than anything in the movie

You have no idea how much we strongly agree how just "Ok" Captain Marvel was! If anything it should've been called "Space Cat and Captain Marvel's here too, I guess!" The movie. Seriously, though. The studio didn't take any risks with this plot and storyline. It felt like the most safe Marvel movie out there. It didn't "Wow" us the same way Spiderman: Homecoming did. It just felt like it was meant to be an average Marvel movie. It was equally as memorable as Sony's PSP. It's like "Yeah, that was a thing that happened and it had like a game or two, but it didn't change my life."

Lets talk about the movie's lost potential. Mahvel was a cree spy trying to end the war. He was also Thanos' greatest nemesis. The movie ends up as a white people protecting their borders from refugees who have high tech options. For some reason a scrull tried to kill their only link to finding their families. Her powers come from the space gem. She can breathe in outer space. Some of the cree are white and black. Either all cats are monsters, or Mahvel brought a monster that looked like a cat. Fury's eyepatch was played for a joke. She doesn't overcome her co because fuck it, she's as strong as she needs to be, and thats perfect control at full power. This was like expecting Destiny to be the greatest ever when bungie announced it.

The problem is Carol was only ever an interesting character when she had her powers stolen in the late 70s and guested in X-men comics - all of her noteworthy stories have been about stuff that happened TO her, she's never been inherently interesting on her own merit. That's not a smart thing to hang a franchise on.

It blows my mind that Captain Marvel wasn't piped down whatever chain of creative people and executive decisions that resulted in Guardians. A weird space Marvel property that's been around for decades but has no real runs or moments that penetrated the mainstream in any significant way but sets up bigger things that can be expanded on in subsequent movies? Seems like a no brainer, but you just can't do that with Carol Danvers for SOME REASON even though Peter Quill took it and no one looked twice.

My only problem with Captain Marvel is that it didn’t earn its right to change things in the MCU as a Whole, it did not earn Nick Fury’s eye, it did not earn the Skrull twist, it did not earn Mar Vell’s changes and it did not earn the Avengers name drop.

The best things about this movie aren't even in itself in its own rights, it's what it sets up for the future. Endgame, Kamala Khan, Monica Rambeau, the Skrulls. All of it is way more important and interesting than what we see here.

The final fight with the villain was the best fight by far. Gotta love a villain who is aware of their situation.

Watching Larson is like watching Sarah Palin trying to think.

Theree is no "Supremo" in the comics, just like the name in the movie, it's the "Supreme Intelligence".

Forget the SJW and the Anti SJW slant. I'm just pissed about how the action has turned with Captain Marvel. Thor and his culture was nerfed to make them "More believable". We take a God with the power to lift the World Serpent and make him more believable so the audience can accept it. And let's take this mid string hero and bust her up to the big leagues because of reasons. I don't get why we had to nerf others for reasons of acceptance but we threw it all out of the window for Captain Marvel. She HAS to be the most powerful, even though we already have one of the arguably strongest members of the Avengers already in the MCU. Let's not bring Sentry who is the Marvel's equivalent to Superman, or even Blue Marvel who actually makes the Sentry sweat. Let's Depower others and make her the best for no reason, and let's not bring in the others who make her look like she's new around here. Don't get me started on the fact that it should be Monica Rambeau. We'd be here all night.

I'm a say something controversial I liked Man of Steel better than Captain Marvel.

I liked Captain Marvel well enough. The most impressive thing to me was how they made Samuel L Jackson look almost EXACTLY like his 1995 self.

They kinda did Nick Fury dirty in this movie. Everything I thought I knew about him in the MCU is now changed.

You can tell Woolie and especially Pat do not keep up with all the newer updates or reboots of Marvel comics, because she no longer has that shaved haircut, she looks more like what Brie Larson is. Also Civil War 2 made her and Kamala Kahn both look bad and the constant reboots (like is it 7 or something number 1's know?) don't help, especially with the bad art. It's like Marvel does not know what this character is and should be.

Unfortunately, or maybe not, I genuinely can't seperate the actress's public statements before the movie released from how mediocre her acting was in a dark humor, ironic kind of way, almost like it's a self fulfilling prophecy that if you shittalk the audience your movie is going to absolutely bomb.

As a female comic fan, I am completely uninterested in Captain Marvel. Marvel has a ton of way better female characters, but the issue seems to be that a lot of them are in teams (as most of Marvel is in general) and they wanted a big, solo lead (to presumably take over Captain America's spot). So it's whatever. I'm not gonna see it. I just want pictures of Spider-man at this point.

Such a shame because I really enjoy Carol in the comics. Then again most mcu films in general have been pretty okaaay. They’re fun romps and thats totally fine because not every film needs to be Martin Scorsese levels of quality. But for me and my preferences I’m sort of burnt out on mcu stuff at the moment. The fact that Sony’s Spiderverse exists in its crazy good quality at all is already such a miracle and honestly has me more paying attention to Sony than Marvel Studios

The captain marvel movie is the most faithfull adaptation in the super hero genre. In the comics carol danvers is bland, boring and even unlikable sucking away all the fun, marvel pushes her way too hard to the point of retconing history to make her the most important/ most powerful/ first women hero just to have their own wonder woman, no one likes her character and at most she gets a "meh" from the audience, all the men around her must be rewritten into sexist pigs cartoons to make her look good regardless of how out of character that is for them in the name of "modern feminism" even though she behaves like a complete psychopath ever since she put her new costume, no one is critical of her dump choices or horrible behavior becuase "that would sexist", she gets rewarded for her mistakes for no goddam reason (looking at you civil war 2). telling us that we must see carol danvers as the new role model super hero for female empowerment its like telling us maria hill is the marvel equal to wonder woman, fuck off. so yeah this movie falling flat on his face with the audience is pretty faithfull to the comics. modern carol danvers is a complete tool in the comics and for what i seen of the actress brie "i don't hate white dudes buuuuuut" larson she is the perfect cast.

Carol in the last decade in the comics has become insufferable, before that she was the superhuman equal of the girl next door, cute, easily approachable and fun but with her depressing moments

I really do not want her to be the face of Marvel. But it's already been decided and i f****** hate it.

It was meh. The only reason why is because of the writing and directing. The stuff that they gave Brie for example was not only boring and show that she was a flawless character. But CM didn’t win me over as a fan. I hope that Endgame will change that, but for now I’m not impressed.

I'd say her and Thor are kinda even at the moment and even then Thor should eventually be wayyyu stronger. Ask for the movie itself I liked it and I kinda get what u mean when it comes to Brie Larson but she will grow into the roll .
