Drogon is the smartest character on the show. He understood the real problem, as well as his limitations in tackling it as just one dragon, so he took the one step towards breaking the Wheel that he could. Then immediately after he left they all did their best to put the Wheel back together, going so far as to make their new king someone who is arguably the most responsible for everything that went wrong this season, has no empathy, possesses the greatest capacity for tyranny and power abuse of pretty much every living character via his magic bullshit, once mind-controlled a peasant into dying for him, and is literally, LITERALLY on wheels. Drogon tried to save them from themselves, but they didn't listen. Now Bran, true villain of Game of Thrones, reigns supreme.

Disclaimer: I have only read book 1 of the series, and watched none of the show. As soon as I heard about the dragon burning the throne, it only took me a second to come up with a way better way for that to happen, which only requires the dragon to be able to understand that Jon Snow killed her: just have him roast Jon so hard that the throne happens to get caught in it. If you need the fire to be directed towards the throne, just have the dragon coincidentally slap Jon over in that direction with its claws or tail first.

27:40 Coming in waaaaay too late to confirm that yes, by ASOIAF book rules, dragon fire in indeed much hotter than regular fire. It is also a very magical fire: each of daenerys' dragons has colour-coded flames (Drogon's fire is red and black, and so forth). And Pat is super right: in the books, Drogon is spearstabbed by some fools, and when Daenerys takes it off, the spearhead is glowing yellow from the heat. Also in the books, their skin/scales are so warm raindrops evaporate on touch. "Dragons are fire made flesh." So yeah, going by book rules, snow should immediately melt as soon as it touches a dragon.

However, the single thing he says in every one of his videos is 100% correct: D&D don't care about story, character, themes or anything, all they want is to show off their actors emoting, because that's what wins awards. As an (amateur) writer who's only sixteen and about 160 pages in. "Themes are for eighth-grade book reports." That statement form David Benioff makes me cringe beyond belief. It is worth noting my lack of experience here but I use themes while also using the gardener style as I feel it allows for better character-writing, which is similar to GRRM's style (I'm not saying I'm on his level, I am far, far, *FAR*, below his level). It makes me feel really frustrated when someone as inexperienced as me seems to understand a song of ice and fire better than D&D. Edit: I haven't even read the books so there's that...

The throne in the book is like 20 feet high, has steps made from swords and is just a monstrous jagged mess. The throne in the show is a lot smaller and I don't even think they mentioned the 49 day thing.

I love that I am Pat in all of this. I never watched the series, or at least past the first season. I didnt like the characters, I cared nothing about the world or its politics. I recognize the talent of the actors/actresses, set design, CGI animators, etc. But I dont care one bit about the actual world or it's people enough to invest the apparent 60 some thing hours to watch a show that ends on a wet fart. But, man! Has the downfall been fun as hell to watch as someone not invested in the show. Like, once episode 3 came out...the internet got amazing with memes and pointing out coffee cups and Dany missing from the dragon animation on that city and some dude with one hand suddenly has the hand he was missing in a shot. Goddamn, I caught up and learned as much as I could from episode 3 this season to the end. Growing more twistedly excited for Game of Ramps to hindenburg, all as a friend of mine who had invested the entire run became more and more done with it all. Best bit was finding out about the leaks, and telling my friend I would end his suffering...if he bent the knee. In the end all this show meant to me was memes and shitposts. God bless the shitposts and memes.

Best thing I can say about the finale was that it didn't make me mad. Last 4 episodes made me mad, but this one didn't. It ended about as well as it could have at this point. I saw the writing on the wall when Grey Worm got sent to camp Casterly Rock all season in 7 and realized "oh. not only have they run out of characters they're willing to kill, but paradoxically they've run out of shit for the characters they're stuck with to do." It was the best ending we could have had with what we had. Not saying it's great, but I'm finally released from this hell.

Honestly I never figured that the finale was going to be satisfying because there were to many moving pieces. The series works based on the idea that whenever something is accomplished, it’s immediately followed by a tragedy, or the scene changes to something happening on another part of the world. The series worked on forward momentum that was never meant, or at least unintentionally designed, to stop. This might sound weird, but ending on a cliffhanger after a big battle would have been a bit better. Satisfying: No More satisfying than what we got: Probably

The ending is so dumb, that after killing Daenerys, John Snow could have literally said "The chair did it." and nothing would have changed.

You know what, it is bad because it made us sad, because that badness is what made us sad in the first place.
