Aloha MIsty and Aiden: Thank you for taking us along your during your day trip in Osaka. It was great to see you enjoying the sights, and food, of Osaka. It was nice that you took us to the castle and the surrounding area and guided us to its history. That crab-themed dinner was really awesome and at a great price. Looking forward to forward to the next “yummy” adventure! Best wishes and much 🧧, fellow 🐯- alumni!

The ultimate praise to the establishment...slurp it up! Glad you're enjoying your trip! UPDATE...On a local note, in the past couple of weeks, they've just boarded and fenced off the former Tasty Chop Suey location. That would mean that they've begun construction for the relocation to the new Bob's Bar-B-Que. This is at the corner of Gulick and School St. in Kalihi. Projection is for them to move into the location before the end of the 2024.
@FoodFiend

Yes that's a great location for Bob's. Been passing by a couple of times and was wondering when they'd start renovating. Sad to see the iconic location go but glad they will still continue doing business! 👍

Agree with you on the ramen places. There are some hole in the walls that are excellent, but it's really a personal thing. For example, if you like softer noodles and the place makes softer noodles, you're good to go. BUT, if you prefer al dente, you can chance asking the owner but some of them are old and/or gruff and will scold you if you don't like "his" ramen style. He might be nicer to foreigners. Ichiran and Ippudo are the two biggest chain places, and both offer ways to customize your ramen so that's a plus. But most Japanese locals consider them like the Burger King of ramen places.
@FoodFiend
@FoodFiend 3 ай бұрын
Even though it's a chain it beats all the ones I've tasted here. I liked Ichiran. Vut the Tokkyu ramen shop in Kyoto was do good and cheaper. I did like the customization aspect. I find the ramen bland here and the noodles are junk. Only the two places I went to recently were not bad. The one in Waikiki with the Michelin Star was good.

Hi Misty! We are so behind on videos but so excited for you to be in Japan!! Love all the vending machines everywhere and so interesting what you can find. So nice to see the ramen menu had English on it. The individual booths are fun and seems a little more private to vlog 😂.That ramen looked ono! How do you compare it to Baikohken at Styx Asia? We always thought more places would be open early there so interesting to see so many closed still close to 8am. The pigs were so cute!! A fun and unique experience for sure. Love all your travel vlogs bc you always share history of where you go in addition to all the good eats and other adventures. All that kani looked soooo fresh and delicious. Not sure we’d enjoy the kani sashimi either especially after you described the texture😂. So many dishes!! Mahalo for taking us along!!

I've seen many foodies rave about Ichiran Ramen in videos and always wondered what it was like. I came across and was stoked to see Ichiran Ramen kits at Don Quijote. But didn't buy as i stupidly read the calories (who thinks about calories when enjoying ramen 🙄?!). I don't see it there anymore and regret not just trying it and doing veggie/lean protein the next day 🤦‍♀️. I think it's available online though so i going order. Piggie cafe was cute 🐽! Such great prices for the quality!

It didn't appear crowded once inside but you do have to make reservations otherwise you won't get in. I think they cap the amount of people that can go inside. You all get a table to drink your drinks and if you want to get pastries so there's only so many tables. The hotel location was awesome!

How much were tickets roundtrip for Oahu to Japan & back per person?
@FoodFiend
@FoodFiend 3 ай бұрын
I'm not sure as it changes with the week and timing. Ours was more expensive due to spring break. About $1300 on Hawaiian round-trip. But Hawaiian is the only direct airlines to Osaka. Japan Airlines and ANA stop at Haneda. If you're super on a budget you can use ZipAir. They are like a budget airline run by Japan Air that goes to Tokyo for really cheap. The catch is no food or beverage service and baggage for a fee. Just bring your own snacks and musubis and buy drinks from the store at the airport. 👍 When I want to travel I look way in advance and literally stalk the website everyday. If you do that you can get great deals. We went to Disneyland and found tickets for $300 round-trip to LAX.
