Now here's a Castlevania song that doesn't get enough love. The whole game's soundtrack doesn't get enough love either, really.

Agreed. I remember being put off at first by the partial-chiptune sound of it (the result of them not fully understanding the GBA's sound capabilities at the time, if memory serves), but the melodies grew on me after a while - they're actually some of the most haunting in the entire Castlevania series.
@juliusb77134 жыл бұрын
@@TheBigL1 it was a bit more that they were focused on the graphics and kind of ran out of space? that said..... that's really just the pragmatic reason. artistically, i think the soundtrack is best with that set, and it best fits the game that way, too.
@HarpoTheVillain4 жыл бұрын
The reason it doesn't get "enough" love is because there's very little love for it. And the reason there's very little love for it is because it's one of the worst Castlevania soundtracks ever made.

Figures. Not a single GBA-vania original tune in the soundtrack. Granted I understand why, cuz they actually added a LOT of music to begin with, but still. It's just all stuff from the classics and RoB/SotN. Gotta pick your battles tbh
@DixieChix5 жыл бұрын
Awake from Curse of the Moon did get a remix tho, so at least there's that there's also a bunch of stuff from the DS Castlevanias too, Portrait of Ruin got two songs in Smash (and the Divine Bloodlines remix in Smash is almost entirely based around the PoR version), Dawn of Sorrow got one song, and some of the Harmony of Despair remixes from Aria/Dawn and Order of Ecclesia got in as well, so I mean, there's quite a bit of stuff lmao, just not from this game, which I do agree sucks ass; would have loved to have seen a remix of this song and Chapel of Dissonance especially haha

Something came over me to see if anyone covered this theme, and I was surprised to see a lot of people like and have covered it. But yours hits a spot, I don't know what it is, the horns are just right, not to different, hapsicord like Melody, and a totally revamped percussion. This is gold.

Harmony of Dissonance unquestionably has the most slept-on soundtrack of the entire series. Someone below me describes the compositions as “haunting” and this is a very accurate appraisal. Despite the absolutely lackluster renditions in-game, the songs themselves were always a massive step forward and they harmonize beautifully with Ayami Kojima’s grandiose, melancholy artwork. If there is any one game more deserving of a remake than any of the others, it’s this one. Amaaaaazing work here by the way! Authentic as ever and like it was lifted right out of the Bloodlines soundtrack except better. Much better!!!

Sounds like next gen despite been made on a system with half the bits and released thirteen years before. OK it's handheld vs home console, OK this is actually a bit meaningless buuuuut, still :P More seriously, I first played Harmony of Dissonance just as it was released, in 2002. At the time I found it pretty good but going back to it more recently along with other GBA games made me realize how boring and piss-easy Metroidvanias are and how limited the GBA is. Oh and, your cover does sound like next gen anyway, as expected both from the almighty Mega Drive and from your terrific skill ;3
@ryzmaker115 жыл бұрын
@DejaVoodooDoll Ha! But no dude, I went through half the game without grinding and things were so ez that I lost interest and by "ez" I also mean unentertaining level design/enemy placement. And of course it would be even worse with grinding... It's just a concept as a whole that doesn't work for me. Had it being a Castlevania RPG with overhead sequences and then action taking place in side scroll fashion, then such gameplay mechanics would be more relevant IMO.
