The loud music really comes from the tesla coil sparks. It's literally playing the music due to the programmed phase, pulse width and firing frequency! So, there are no speakers, no audio / video special effects. It looks even better in person and sounds almost the same, just louder than people expect!
I hope you all enjoy this version I worked for the musical tesla coils I designed!

I mean, the NES only had 4 simple waveform channels for music, this isn't that far off. If some modulation could make sounds that are more pulse/triangle/sine wave than the default, you'd basically have the full instrument complement of the console

That's because the sound chip on the NES had two square wave channels and a triangle wave channel and Tesla coils produce square waves. By default. You might be able to produce others with pwm, I'm not sure.

I can imagine starting a new Castlevania game and defeating zombies/ghouls while it's raining in the background. That's what this reminds me of. There is a potentially new Castlevania game releasing. It's just a rumor but I am excited if it is true.

It's almost too fitting for a boss music for Frankenstein. I mean, just that sudden shift in theme from a gothic orchestra. To this electrical tesla coil music. Just fitting for the undead abomination arisen by electricity. On top of that, the whole battlefield is full of tesla coils and shooting out bolts of lightning and powering the monstrous horror.
