This is possibly the most factually incorrect statement I've ever read today (and considering this is youtube that is saying quite a bit). Changing the drinking age came about by bribing the states and increasing dependency on federal taxpayer money. The 21 drinking age is required in order to receive federal taxpayer's money for roads. There has never been any proof that increasing the drinking age reduced teenage or underage drinking, if anything there is far more proof that preventing people from being able to drink only increases the want of acquiring alcohol (see prohibition).

The thing about the US is that we are so culturally different, and I don't just mean by migration and settling patterns. For example, in my home state of Iowa, you can purchase an Armalite rifle (AR-15) at 18 years of age, by yourself, with no wait period, but in Illinois, just across the river, you have a 3 day wait period and a background check (mostly due to drug and gang violence). Meanwhile, Wyoming is the naturalists paradise; wide open spaces with rolling hills and mountains and not two states away is California with urban metropolises and beaches. The US is huge, and we don't have a singular culture, but don't be caught saying that the US has no culture, just many smaller subtle ones.

4:57 Dave, if you think that the drinking age of 21 stops Americans from starting to drink in their teenage years, then you're incredibly naive. Most people I know, started somewhere between 13 and 16. I'm, personally, a late bloomer and didn't start until I was 20. But that's very uncommon. It's kind of the American way, to rebel against authority.

Speaking of people being very different a short distance away. I am a minutes away from Garden Grove in Orange County. Years ago when my father a Vietnam War veteran came to visit he almost had flashbacks because the nickname of Garden Grove is “Little Saigon” and it has a very rich vibrant Vietnamese Community (with some of the best restaurants for both French and Asian food -Gordon Ramsey loves the spring rolls from Brodard’s Chateau a Vietnamese fusion French restaurant here). To my right is the largest Latino community in the United States, Santa Ana where one could literally live without hearing English if one chose to. Some of the best Mexican food to be found here. I believe the complexity in the UK, in the US, and in other places, gives some great perspectives and teaches us to be overlook the foibles of others as we expect to overlook our own. Great show gentlemen, I enjoy it immensely.

The drinking age in the US needs to go back down to 18, or the enlistment age needs to go up to 21. As it is you can enlist when you are 17 and 4 months if your parents sign off. Daz, you nailed it on the head when you described us as such a vast country with different opinions on what's right. That's why the nation's founders made us a republic of states, each with their own governments that would have little interference by the federal govt. The states were meant to hold nearly all the power, thereby allowing people of different ilks to exist peacefully. While we have made positive strides nationally in things like human rights and equality, largely the federal govt has grossly overstepped its bounds in what its role was intended to be.

Maybe it's because I live in Houston but no one talks to each other at all while waiting in lines... I think that might be a smaller city/town culture. Also the obesity problem in America is exactly why I work in nutrition ed and am studying dietetics. I'm sure our portion sizes and obsession with more is fun for visitors, but it is literally killing us.

It’s about stopping companies from designing foods that are literally caloric drugs... and subsequently keeping them from making those drugs the cheapest, most readily available form of sustenance in the country. Thats our reality as a nation, and ending that and replacing it with a more wholesome system would solve that obesity issue real quick. Americans were all about excess in the first half of the 20th century too, lots of corn fed red meat and pork, complex carbs, sugar and whole dairy, yet we didn’t have an obesity problem. It wasn’t until fast food and processed foods in general took over that we became obese as a country.

Some kids ended up having quite a few minor consumptions but that didn't stop us lol. I have no clue what they do nowadays. Smoke weed and take pills? Dunno? I grew up in Minnesota btw.

There's a few things to be said for age limits. Sometimes they really help perspective, because the anticipation is that someone older is constantly advising caution; not, "figure it out, unless you do too much". The saying is "you're old enough to die for your country, you should be old enough".

While that may be, the entire reason the draft was passed into law was because they used the right to vote as a bargaining chip. The drinking age of 21 is an enticement for states to become dependent on federal taxpayer's money for roads, in other words if the age wasn't raised you couldn't receive federal taxpayer funds.

Your "giving up" comments came perilously close to arrogantly dismissive of people who are thrilled to have a mobility scooter that actually allows them a chance to live life beyond the four walls of their homes. Like me. I'm an obese person, and I've had dozens of comments about my weight being the source of my problems with mobility. The condition I have causes weight gain and extreme pain and numbness and weakness. Without the security of the scooter, i'd jut not leave my home, sometimes not even my bed. And yes, you did add on a bandaid of comments about those who actually "need" scooters, but you're judging people based on their weight, as being persons who've just given up. Bad form, guys.
