Great to hear the sound of your cammy now that the long pipe has been fitted. It would be neat to get a short history rundown video if you had time.

Simply fabulous - a proper vintage thoroughbred machine and doesnt that beautifully engineered cammy engine sound devine on that open pipe- she has got some legs too! Everything that a motorcycle should be....

Wonderful! Love the "pistol grip" shaped tank on these. Are you running the GP carb? I've heard they will not idle and make for tricky riding in modern traffic with lights/stop & go etc. Have you seen the videos from "Velo Fan" utube channel? He has a KTT, open exhaust pipe, no kicker and GP carb, rides like he stole it around the english countryside.

I'm buying a 1927 Model K, which will have a 7:1 compression piston and KTT cams. I'm aware that you really only get the benefit of the cams with an open pipe of the correct length. Is yours particularly noisy with the open pipe? I already have a very loud Scott, and I don't want the neighbours at my door with pitchforks and flaming torches, but I would like to get the performance.

Very nice! I wouldn't say it's offensively loud unless on full load, but it's loud enough while cruising to take into account the complete lack of a horn (a bit of safety). I cut the exhaust down slightly since this video based on in-period factory photographs so that it's just inside the rear wheel rim. I'm running around 7.5:1 CR on pump fuel without issues.

I also had a 1929 KTT with open pipe, it really only gets noisy if you open up too much in a built up area, with normal riding it is no problem, just a very pleasant sound. Chris B.

Update on my 1927 K. It has an 8.5:1 cr piston and the early KSS/KTT cam. The piston is the one which was already in the engine. The big end has now been converted from crowded roller to caged roller. I still don’t have it back from the engineer who’s rebuilding the engine (he has a lot of other work as well, and fits my motor in as and when he can) so I don’t yet know how it will go. Hopefully, it will be on the road by spring.
