At $650k to $750k each, the CAT scrapers in this video represent a huge equipment investment. Adding into that the cost to operate, (the daily fuel bill must be staggering,) there must me an awful lot of site development work in SoCal in order to squeeze out a profit out of so much investment. Impressive video.

Holy smoke! This is EXCELLENT! I really like the drone footage. These operators are pros. That is a great looking job. I operated all kinds of heavy equipment in '60s, through mid-1970. Cushion hitch, air-ride seats surely helped these 657 scrapers. Nonetheless, still a young operator's job. Wonderful video series!

You sit patiently waiting for months for an SCEM video to come along and when it does it absolutely blows your mind. A vision of beauty in all the CATs and a symphony of sound in all those exhausts. Add that to some excellent photography and what more could an enthusiast of the "Big Metal" want, - just more videos like this one.

Any one notice that when they get to the fill to spread their load they split tracks to help with compaction, not like a bunch of sheep. A loaded scraper compacts the fill material, a saves the rollers save a lot of time to pass the nuclear hydrometers test. Not like a bunch of sheep following in the same tracks. Which can cause uneeded problems I certain conditions, as an example, pumping the soil that is almost impossible to get compaction without digging it out, and hauling out the unsuitable and bringing in usable soil. It takes longer and equipment that could be used elsewhere. LOVE CAT YELLOW, AND THAT UNBEATABLE SOUND OF PURE POWER

What an awesome video!! Fun watching these amazing operators and their 657 pan really move the earth!! Some of my favorite scenes is "riding on the back of the scraper", observing the action. Great video showing how those push-pull pans work in tandem to get each pan loaded. Seems like quite a haul from cut to fill, justifying using so many pans to get the yardage moved. Thanks again, you are the best for big-time California scraper action videos!!

I have never in my life seen a procession of scrapers like this. I suspect it may have been something close to this when I was too young to remember-- the interstate 280 in Northern California being cut near our soon to be Redwood City onramp/offramp. My dad used to go up and watch after work. I went with him, but only have a vague memory, as I would have been about 5-6 years old.
