Hey guys meet Dante Magnus Nicodemus or known by his instagram name @Catstradante. His brother @Catstratamus is very famous with over 230K followers. In this video Dante has an ear infection that we care for using Zymox products. When using Zymox ear flush and ear cleanser you do not need to clean out the wax covered yeast and bacteria, you can simply leave it in the ear. But since I like to leave the ears clean and I had Dantes owner there to help me, I went ahead and cleaned out the ears with the Zymox flush then I used the Zymox ear solution after that to leave in. To treat an ear infection you must apply the Zymox ear solution into the ears once a day for 3-5 days. If the ears are not better after 5 days please go see your local veterinarian. I did this and after the first day my cat runs from me. What's needed is a jelly that can be packed in that stays in place and kills the infection.

The box says to apply the solution to (and it puts it in bold to emphasize) *un-cleaned* ears. So no need to clean with the ear solution first. Other than that, cool video.

Hi doctor, I am 70 years old and handicapped, so I don't see so well and live in a assisted living home. So how would you know if it's a yeast infection or ear mites? And will this medication treat both? Also, if it gets in his eyes by accident or he licks his ears is this medication dangerous?

I sherry I'm no expert but my cat had ear mites and the ears looked like it had kind of damp coffee grounds in it. The ear infection has a very dark waxy and dirty look. I get my medication from the tractor supply store near me but you can order it online. Also if your not sure what your cat has you could get ear flush to clean the ears then put ear mites drops in your cats ears after cleaning them. Follow the directions on the bottle I hope this helps best wishes

Is it ok to exceed the 7days? I used the one with 1% hydrocortisone for 7 days. Ears got better. So I stopped after 7 days. But after a few days it's red again. Can I use it again?

Exactly! It’s why I am here. This vet even stated this and she cleaned her cat’s ear anyway. If you go to zymox’s website, it states the enzymatic cleaning does much better in a dirty ear. I’m following Zymox’s guidelines. I agree it was helpful seeing this vet show how to apply and for offering the product as an effective one (for some/most).

Also I want to add to everyone after treating your cats ears and they get better if the infection comes back. Change your cats food to a more quality food with no grain. Food can be the number one reason why your cat is getting an ear infection. Also age

Grain-free food is not good for cats because it can cause heart problems. I got this info from my vet!

I see some vets and apparently qualified people be quite rough with animals. I know some countries have different situations, conditions/ facilities, knowledge and adequate medical items but I find some hard to watch.

Our cat was better than Dante because she knew we feed her a semi-raw chicken heart/liver (1-4 ratio) smoothie!!! Yes, a cat smoothie. We take 4-5 chicken hearts - muscle meat (frozen usually like frozen berries) and a piece of liver - organ meat - size of 1 heart; pour boiling hot kettle water over it in amagic bullet cup and blend till smooth. Pour into her shallow ceramic dish and sometimes micro for 15 sec, stir and serve. She laps the whole thing up and doesnt mind her Zymox treatments because she knows what comes after. We are doing zymox for 14 days. Is that too long? We dont want the gunk to come back. We think she picked it up from outdoor cats as she didnt have it before (now 10 years old) butalso wonder if its a microscopic parasite on all the surfaces she rubs her face/head on?

I know this a late reply but in case it happens again, and if after 7 days of treatment it still is looking or smelling infected please take it to a vet!

Again she doesn’t do a thorough video what about the next day and the next day? You’re just never ever supposed to wipe out the ears with a clean Q-tip or a clean cotton ball I’m gonna have to email the company because this is ridiculous

This is a horrible way to clean a cat's ears. You could easily damage the eardrum, there are plenty of videos available on how to properly clean a cat's ears by legitimate veterinarians.
