A tip for anyone who wants to bathe their cat: use your hand to cup the water to their fur first, then slowly use a scoop. Don't just put them under the shower head, tap or tub immediately.

Hey guys, noticed this in some of these videos and feel like I should drop this general knowledge here: It’s okay to give your cat a bath, sometimes they really suck at cleaning themselves. But when you give them a bath, if you can, try to avoid getting their head wet. It can lead to really bad ear infections and more harm than good will be done for your little friend.

Neither one of them is enthused about the experience, but they're both convinced I might accidentally eat them if they scratch me, so they keep the protesting to howling like they've been murdered. ...Pretty sure the neighbors think I perform exorcisms.

I used to have an orange tabby cat who hated getting wet. His name was Jack. And although he was a lovebug, he hated water. I gave him a bath once, and he was not a happy kitty. Then some time later, my mom and I played with him in a swimming pool in my mother's backyard. After that, the little fuzzball was licking himself for days 😂

Unless there's a very good reason to force the cat into a bath/shower you shouldn't if it is that level of resistance. They clean themselves you know? and they are good at it.

Cats: “We spend much of our day licking ourselves clean and you still have to do this to us?”.

This is why you give baths to your cat when they are first born. This makes it so they don't act like your about to murder them.

I had a little ginger tabby kitten many years ago who used to slide into the warm tub water with me at least once every couple of weeks when I was in the bath as I usually took just a shower everyday. It all started when he came looking for me and jumped up onto the side of the tub and and he just fell in..I thought he was going to go nuts like most cats do when dunked in water unexpectedly. Much to my surprise he just climbed onto my chest..so I rinsed him off..then dried him..and this seemed to become a ritual for us. He was a really smart cat when he grew up.

My cat wasn’t allowed in the basement, which I thought I’d made abundantly clear. If the door was open the slighted bit, he’d somehow find a way to get down there. Of course then he’d hide down there all night, and then come up sometime in the morning when he wanted food. He would inevitably end up crawling somewhere really dirty and grimy. And, of course, I had no idea where he had been, and didn’t want him cleaning himself if he was covered in potentially hazardous materials. so when he finally came upstairs, he would pretty much always get a bath. Of course, he acted like it was some sort of unimaginable torture, but that just begs the question, if that happens every time you go in the basement, why do you keep going into the basement? A video I just watched said that cats have pretty poor short-term memories, but they remember trauma and things associated with it. So either he didn’t connect the bathtub with the basement or he was just being really melodramatic when given a bath. But no matter how gentle I was or tried to reassure him, the look on his face during a bath was “I’m going to DIE!!”

My cat does not like taking a bath. However, she is very calm because I started bathing her since she was a little kitten. I give her a towel in my kitchen sink to hold onto to help her with stress.

My cat came home covered in mud or sewer, smelling bad and I had to bathe him for the first time tonight. I know he loves me because he could've thrashed me and he put up a good fight without using his claws, but he cuddled me later. I felt so bad.
