I'm pretty sure I've already commented this on a different account, but this is the video I watched the day that I met my cat. He got himself into a glue trap and needed an emergency bath. It's been almost 7 years now and he's my favorite pain in the butt. I even moved him from central Africa to the States with me. thanks for this vid, man ❤

I used to have a baby too. When we found her she was sick, sneezing and shivering constantly. I washed her, I gave her a heated blanked and let her sleep on it in my room. She woke me up in the middle of the night when her ears started trickling my nose. She decided to sleep right next to my face instead of on the blanked. I gave her the medicine every 4 hours for weeks. Yes indeed I didn't sleep for more than 4 hours straight during all those days and weeks. She grew up strong, playful and a little more scratchy and bity than I'd like her to. She was my little black panther, and my baby.

Well, you pretty much have two possible options if you wash an adult cat. Either you get them used to bathing or have already done so as any good owner would when they're a kitten and let them hopefully learn that it's not scary or dangerous. Or you can go the other way and force them to comply and give them a bath as quickly as possible if you really need to. Most cats will just forget about it soon enough even if they're pissed for a little while and hopefully you will not need to wash your cat often. Usually you mainly wash outdoor cats or if they got nasty for some reason, like if they happened to get something all over themselves such as wet food or piss, should be pretty rare. I've bathed grown cats that hate being bathed because it's necessary and you can't wait for them to "Get used to it" if you haven't taught them already. Mainly about closing the door, any escape paths and preferably the door to the shower if possible and just get them in a steel grip and get it done with as fast as possible so they won't have to endure for long. The worst thing that can happen is that they won't want to go into the shower any time soon. That and some scratches if you don't hold it properly, especially if you're the type to not trim their nails so they're not sharpened.

The comments on this video are great! So many people stating they don't even have a cat. From my experience the maneuver you called "paralyzing" is super effective and if you are in a situation where you have to give the cat a bath, grab that spot and keep those claws off of you. Staying calm and showing the cat stuff like this guy is great. He's an expert. Cat connection recognized mow get back to work!

You did a great job! I would add that cats don’t have great temp control and have a hard time drying the soft fur close to the skin, so keeping it as warm as you can is always a good idea ☺️
