Fitting Aftermarket Speakers To The Mini R50, R52 & R53, A Great Upgrade!

Hello everyone and welcome back to the Shed, good to see you back!
In this video I will be carrying out the fitment of some aftermarket speakers to my sons R50 Mini Cooper.
edit I have since discovered that the rear speakers are different on the R52, due to it being a convertible, other than that the process is practically the same.
The speakers that I will be fitting are JVC units and these are a direct drop in replacement for the factory original speakers. The recent addition of the Kenwood headunit that I fitted in the previous video has really shown how poor the factory fitted speakers are and these replacements are a low cost, high impact upgrade for this car.

Naturally, whilst I fitted JVC speakers to the car in this video, the process will be identical for fitting Pioneer, Kenwood or Sony units to the Mini too.
In addition to the speakers themselves, you will also need a fitting kit in order to adapt the cars original speakers to the factory positions and small wiring adaptors to convert the cars wiring plugs to fit the aftermarket units.

Very good video sir, i've just put some Alpine's in the door's (this morning) but i'll wait for better weather to do the back one's. I was thinking that the rear speakers would be easy. 😂 I have the speakers, but haven't fitted yet. I honestly thought I'd be able to pop that wire mesh off in front of them. 😮 So that job just got twice as long. Glad I watched this first now.

nah, you dont need to take all of that stuff off, I managed to just take the door seal off for the front doors and then just pry the panels open enough to access them

I fitted my rear speakers in 10 mins, ... Just popped the clips, bent it back so it gave me enough room to replace speakers, only thing I removed was the bottom seat,

On my 02(I’m in the states) I used the same speaker adapter’s that you used, maybe the black one is if you have the harmon kardon system?

Decent video 👌🏻Just what I’ve been looking for. Was there any extra room to accommodate slightly deeper 6x9’s? I’ve got some older ones from a previous car. Just wondering if they’re likely to fit the depth. Cheers.

@@Noname5618-k6m the pre 2004 July ones come with the speakers I’m pretty sure but if your model is after July 2004 you need to buy the white wiring adapters

I ain't even know my mini cooper backseats can go down like that😂😂😂i got a pos mini cooper buh its still my lil babii until i can get another mustang..and ima mod both of them..
