I have subscribed to Pratical Sailor magazine because I am a Lady K. fan! Tim is the best!!

I love our Catalina 380 featured in this video (Double Dutch). We have no problem storing our nested Magma pot set under the sink, along with bowls, and a salad spinner. Frying pans lean up against the hot water reservoir under the sink and are fitted perfectly with the size of our stove top burners. We also have a shelf in front of the hot water reservoir that stores all of our kitchen utensils in a plastic Tupperware. I have a spot for everything. My husband, who's 6'6" and I 5'8" can both sleep comfortably in the vberth. In the aft cabin we sleep with our heads at the engine end to maximize on space and leave our feet at the shallower end. The Westerbeke on our 1998 380 just took us around the Great Loop, so no complaints. Sure, it's a 25 year old engine with 3,500 hours and has 25 year old engine issues occasionally (transmission shifter seal, corroded transmission cooler), but we maintain it well and it has never let us down!

I owned a new Jeanneau SO 36i for 11 years. I was a Practical Sailor subscriber for 12 years. I must have reread each issue several times. It was my first boat, and Practical Sailor was my best friend and mentor. Thank you. Now I am waiting for my Nordhavn 475.

This may turn into one of our favorite channel's , right along with Lady K Sailing .

Hi TIm. We consulted with you last year and you were a big help. Definitely worth the money. We purchased a 2000 C380 with the Yanmar. I was not interested if it had a Westerbeke. We have had it since August and we love the boat. I looked at a lot of different boats before we narrowed it down. Besides the engine there were several other reasons we chose it. We wanted a separate shower, a Nav Desk with a chair, a 3-burner stove and the company was still in business. Most of all was the queen sized bed with access on both sides. We even looked at a C42 at your suggestion. Even though it was bigger inside, it didn't have a separate shower that you could stand up in. I always make sure I don't miss your videos.

Congrads on you new gig!!! Well deserved addition to PS. Been following you for over 4 years on Lady K and you by far are the most practical, no nonsense information source for any money. Sure would like two new episodes: 1) Universal Diesels, pros, cons, tips (especially model 25 maintenance, diagnosis), and 2) Ericson, specifically 34-2 late 80's (I'm looking hard at one to upgrade from my 84 Catalina 30). Lastly, congrads to PS management for their wisdom in hiring the best sailor for the job!

Suggested topic: Anchors, Chains (the ones that don't rust), and Windlass. Being able to anchor without stress is huge and usually overlooked at how important it is by new sailors. How much chain, how heavy and what type of anchor, what type and pros and cons of different types of windlass? Thanks in Advance!

I own a 1999 Catalina 380 with the Westerbeke 42B I have 1100 hrs on it, starts right up and Ive never had any problems with it. The key with any marine diesel is regular maintenance.
