It’s definitely the brick port before the sheep port. Brick is harder to block and it goads them to blocking the 4 wheat because you have a 2nd settlement on it, but 4s don’t roll a ton in general, so it’s not the best spot to block. Plus going after the brick port, even if you had lost it to orange, the road still has defensive value in blocking the path to the sheep port. Going sheep port 1st doesn’t add defensive value in going for the brick port.

At 19:57 you should have seen possible double play for blue and just taken road with a 4:1 instead of the settle. I think you would have won this then!

In games like this I’ve noticed you might as well take road when you can. People were already hitting you as if you had road locked down anyways.

Love the vids man But holy heck do u make some questionable decisions. Whats was the point of holding the ore early and risking 7ing out only to buy a dev the next turn that u could use had u bought it when u should have? Not like u were holding for a potential city. All risk for 0 reward

I don't like the decision to buy a dev card and build roads towards the 6/5/12 instead of just settling on the brick port. Your wheat production was always questionable, so you needed to have a backup option set up as soon as possible with your ample brick to procure wheat and, eventually, convert to ore to city up. I also genuinely feel it was a waste of time going for dev cards. that just wasn't part of your win condition. I feel the priority was to settle on both the brick and sheep ports, city up as soon as possible, connect for Longest Road shortly after and then settle on remaining spots.

I was 100% sure you would have won once you secured the connect, because after that there was literally 0 competion for road, expecially considering you were basically monopolizing brick, but then you acted like your opponents were idiots and unable to see it, you delayed the connect and left blue take road... Honestly I think you got what you deserved. In general you don't want to take road earlier in order to avoid getting targeted but if the max road is only 5 and someone is at 4 already you really want to take it asap. did you really think not taking road would have spared you from getting mass robbed ? like they didn't know those 2 points were in your bag ? come on, at this level you should not assume the people you play are idiots.
