FYI - Spam was a product developed to feed the Allied troops during World War II. It was very popular in the Pacific theater because this meat product did not require refrigeration. During this time Civilians in the Pacific theater acquired a taste for Spam to the point that it has become a delicacy in a lot of these island nations like Hawaii Fiji and Bora-Bora. It’s high salt content was to ensure a long shelf life.

When I was younger, I lived off a nice lake in Florida. I developed a pretty cool relationship with a great blue heron there. I had a healthy colony of bluegill and other sunfish in the area behind my house (I would feed them gamefish feed) and every evening I would give him a couple bluegill. Eventually it got to the point where he'd be out there waiting for me and my mom would call out "fillip your heron is out waiting for you" and I would go out and catch him a couple. He would spot me from really far away whenever I would go fishing, even when I was on other parts of the lake. When we moved away my neighbors told me he continued to come out and wait for me for many months... My first interaction with him was not unlike the one you had with this one. Some good nostalgia. I even fed him a 2 lb bass once that was dying from a deep hookset. Was amazed that he was able to swallow that thing!

Ace I throughly enjoyed watching your adventure played out. I rooted for you to catch a large striper. The smaller ones I hope you enjoyed cooking and eating the small striper that caught. Wow that camper tent over your blue truck how clever and convent. Whoever came up with that idea is brilliant. A fold away tent on your truck. So wherever you go your tent goes with you folded on top of your truck. All I can say is how cool to have a tent like that. You have some neat cool camping items like your stove and fry pan and even a drawer for food and spices. Great job Ace. Make some more KZfaq movies like this one. I felt like I was there fishing.

Herons truly are amazing birds. Ive heard they can sit up to 6 hours without moving a single muscle looking into the water for fish. Once you give them handouts though you can guarantee they wont leave you alone. Kinda like a seagull lol

You can get and big catfish on bulegill and also and big bass there is an lot of things you could caught on an bulegill .Use it alive on hole for the strip.

Ace...next time you want to get your spam out of the can, becareful when doing this but poke some holes in the bottom of the can with a knife or an ice pick. Also just a note: Hawaiian's love spam true...it was brought to the islands around WW2 for the soldiers and became a staple in the states cooking.

I love camping spots that I can basically fish from my campsite. And a little tip to get spam out of the can easier. Stab a hole in the bottom of the can to release the vacuum. Give the can a little shake and the spam should come right out.
