Handicap is an average on your best 8 scores every 20 rounds. The number of your handicap is representative more of your potential good day and not the number you shoot every round
@dwboston1Ай бұрын
And it's the average of the best 8 differentials, which uses course rating (from the tees you are playing) to get your course handicap. It doesn't mean a 3 shoots 75 every time he plays.

Handicap is a measure of your potential. Not what you are shooting every time you go out. Your handicap also changes based on the tees your are playing and the slope and rating for those tees. Example, I am 65 years old, from the old guy(5600 yds) tees I am a 2 HCP, from the member tees (6150 yds) I am a 5 HCP and the blue tees (6800 yds) I am a 7. From our tips at 7300 yds I am a 12 HCP. I would play either of you guys straight up.

Yeah handicap is based on an index which takes into account tees played and difficulty of course. More specifically how you score on certain holes too. It’ll calculate a differential based on that data. Your handicap is based on your last 8 of 20 best round differentials. So generally a 2.8 handicap will probably shoot around 80 from the tips consistently, a good round mid 70s and a bad round mid 80s

There are factors that determine this stuff. First of all your handicap is based on your like top 40% or so of rounds. Your absolute worst rounds really don’t matter for your handicap. It also depends on things like slope and course rating. A course with an average slope rating and a course rating that is equal to par would mean that an average of 3 over par in say 4 of 10 rounds played would put your handicap like right at 3. Also a player that can shoot like -2 one day and +5 the next day on the same course could easily have the same handicap as a guy who consistently shoots 1-2 over.
@WhaddupImJohnАй бұрын
@@cobra7282golf is a weird sport. Im a 4 and will break 80 pretty consistently, but i will either have like 5 bogeys and all pars or i will have like 7 bogeys with 3 birdies. Or occasionally i will have a blow up round where i shoot 85

I'm a 3.0 but the handicap system is based on your POTENTIAL so if you have some really low rounds & then hack up others they toss those out. The problem with a lot of players is they just don't get those lower rounds thus very high handicaps. I added up my last 21 rounds as far as handicaps per round then divided by 21 & I am actually a 9 handicap if they didn't base it on potential. It's all about having breakthroughs so if you shoot in the high 90's you're going to need just a couple rounds in the 80's to bring it way down.

@@darylhoskins5696 I’ve eagled two different holes twice each. Making an eagle requires a strong drive and an accurate and strong second shot. The difficulty of the putts vary. I don’t personally know anybody else that has made an eagle. And I’ve had many people say that they don’t know anybody that has made an eagle. Nobody has told me they know anybody that has made one. I do know this one little guy who rarely hits a driver much past 200 yards that made a hole in one. He has zero chance of ever making an eagle. He made a hole in one once. Sure, the better golfer you are the greater your chances bc your dispersion pattern is smaller. And if you want to call that skill, well, go for it. But luck will do it just as well. Me? At 70 and getting out of the hospital tomorrow after a month long stay for rotator cuff surgery, my chances of another eagle are limited to only a couple of par 5s. Unless I want to start playing from the senior tees and my golfing buddies won’t take kindly to that.

And u actually can ask other players for a advice IF they are in same team with u, like you in the scramble cuz its a different format of the game. And also as u said "iam allowed to tell you and you are not allowed to ask is also wrong. Because IF someone ask u, he has penalty, and if u respond to him, you both get penalty. PS. IF YOU RLY WANT TO KNOW WHAT CLUB SOMEONE USED, WAIT TO ANOTHER HOLE OR ON THE GREEN AND U CAN ASK FREELY BECAUSE IT WONT HELP YOU ANYMORE.
