It's a dream many of us have had - controlling lightning with just our hands. Millions of volts at your fingertips. Only, it doesn't have to be a dream. A giant Tesla Coil can make it a reality. This was an unplanned collaboration with Arc Attack (Joe and John Diprima), and was an incredible experience. Social distancing was observed. For even BIGGER sparks, livestreams, and awesome music, check out their channel / arcattackmusic

ArcAttack, thanks so much. I have a few people asking about the current flowing in your coil's ground strikes. Do you have any rough figures for this? I'd imagine it's impressive.
@arcattackmusic
@arcattackmusic 3 жыл бұрын
@@PlasmaChannel A few ways to look at that really. The instantaneous discharge from the topload capacitance through the spark can be 100s of amps upon inital contact with the ground plane. Our output inductor breakout points limit that to 10s of amps. The average secondary current can be in the milliamp range for smaller coils, or upward of a few amps for coils this size and larger.

Ive done similar experiments before depending on the current flow through the plasma the glove will heat up and the color of the arc will change as metal is vaporized so the amount of current flowing through in this setup may have been lower than a hundred milliamps so maybe a slight heating effect but not anything uncomfortable and he may have felt his hair stand up as the air around him became charged

100khz perhaps? Well, we are not supposed to be able to feel an electric shock from that. I can imagine contact burns, which at that power could be pretty bad. Still not life-threatening though right? So you mentioned the grounding stopping it from going through your body. Could you tell me what damage specifically it would cause? Also, could you estimate the amount of current going through your body without the grounding? Thanks, Alan.

When I was ten years old, my dad had us stay at a cabin in the Big Bear Mountains here in California. A friend of my dad that he worked with would allow my dad to use his cabin from time to time, so my dad could give us, his kids, a good time in the mountains for a week now and then. I only have one brother and my brother was else where that morning when I walked out of the front door of the cabin we were staying in. My dad was indoors in the cabin when this happened. I walked down the walkway to the cabin, only to stop once, to see the lightening hitting Big Bear Lake, not too far away from where I was standing. The clouds were hanging low over me too as I look back on that morning and it was about 10 o'clock in the morning I recall. As I got near the road, there was a large power line hanging just above my head, about 20 feet above me. Suddenly, I was surrounded by light, while hearing this sharp snapping sound over my head. I even saw the bolt, as it came out of the sky, heading toward me when it happened. That was quite a sight to see. This is real I want you to know and I'm now 64 years of age as I look back on the experience. What surprised me was the sound the lightening made, as it hit the power line, getting absorbed into the power system and that was the very loud snapping sound it made, as though someone were snapping a huge whip over my head. When the light cleared, I found my body had instinctively made my legs collapse, so I was close to the ground, trying to protect myself. It happened fast too when it all happened. All of this was instinctive, as a response too. I didn't start to process what had happened to me, until I stood up and looked up at the power line, realizing what had happened. So, if you think there are people who have not been underneath a bolt of lightening to hear its horrifying sound, I'm one who had the experience. Now a days, when I see lightening in the sky, when a storm goes by, I remember that moment in time, when the lightening hit the power line over my head, making that huge snapping sound. I still got a small jolt from it but was distracted with the seriously loud bang, the heat flash and the bright flash to react to the jolt. I think I simultaneously reacted to all of the above in one go. lol. This happened 30 years ago and to this day when I'm out in the sun, half my face that got UV burn will go red or kinda tan faster than the other side even though all my face is getting equal sunlight.

@@PlasmaChannel Lol. Well apart from the unwanted side effects.. It was quite the adrenaline rush after realizing what just happened plus with the residual tingling all over your skin enhancing sensations. I could feel the static in the air rapidly get stronger within half a second prior to discharge. It was like the static from a large CRT TV screen when you first switch it on and put your face close to the screen.. but wayyyy stronger and before you can think "incoming lightning strike" .. *BOOM!!* _instant sun burn along with all over violet wand treatment amped up_ all at once. Then the high pitch loud "TINGGG" ringing in the ears, the strong smell of ozone and vaporized metal with a hint of scorched pork rind (human skin) in the air. For the next 5 minutes or so you're like *_"Whoaa, WOW, ho-lee-chiiit! Did that just haa... wow no wayyy, OMFG, what a buzzz, why is my fayce on fyahh, Wow, that was soooo kool, again again.. wait no.. mah face is really burning hot, did I get struck, this is sooo kool but it's not but it is"_* .. Yeah if it wasn't for my friend who was sat next to me, nobody would have believed. He got a mild shock of electric goodness and some ringing in his ears which lasted a few minutes, no UV burn/tan. I got called "Half Tan Dan" for months after (my real name is Rob)... lol ... So yeah I would recommend the experience, just be careful. Lmao!

I'm planning to use tesla coil for body tempering, how much voltage should be used for a start up that practically strong enough but relatively safe for human body? I've been using normal electro pad to trained my muscles but lately it seems not enough, i need more power
@himawanagung
@himawanagung 3 жыл бұрын
Using electro pad n adpter device for muscles training no longer enough for me, it seems human body also adapted to elctric current after time

One more thing, is it possible to design a suit with induction plates installed that match major acupuncture points on human body to transfer the electric energy from tesla coil to human body through acupuncture points?
@PlasmaChannel
@PlasmaChannel 3 жыл бұрын
Interesting idea! I don’t believe that is possible - and I have a degree in biology. I would not recommend higher voltages that what you already use for the electro pad. Definitely an interesting thought though. I’d recommend exercising to train muscles instead.

Electric ray guns are hidden in the storages. It is not theory any more. 4G and 5G beam forming is one of the keys but there also are some with carrier waves. Just wait and see. WW3 is fast approaching.

Yeah it was realllllllly hot inside the warehouse...at least 100 degrees. My hair just fluffed up. As for sensations inside the glove, I only felt tingling near the end after my rubber glove started to get soaked in sweat. I thought it felt cool, but to some people it may have been uncomfortable.

This Probably sounds like a stupid question but why do Tesla coils sound like that when it sound like thunder but quieter
@PlasmaChannel
@PlasmaChannel 3 жыл бұрын
Well, because a tesla coil 'arc' is composed of dozens of spark pulses per second. This one was operating at 100 sparks per second, or 100hz output. Thats why it sounded like that, and not individual pulses.
