We all make mistakes, but for your own sake. Please stop stealing from me. I will catch you every time and you will personally help load my stuff back up. As for this case we’ve resolved the matter and I’d appreciate if everyone respects them as we all make mistakes. And dude… please take your wife out to dinner. She deserves it.

Amen. Usually search warrants do not happen that fast. In busy south florida a cop wouldn't have done nothing without picture proof of everything. Hell my sister stole 30k from me and I told the cops what bank she put it in her safety deposit box, text saying sorry, and her finger prints everywhere and they said sue her its a civil matter.

Yeah that is honestly how you want to see a situation like that be handled. Having been on the losing end of stolen property I worked hard for, and then being amazed at how bad I felt when it seemed like the cops didn't even seem to care or try to get it back, I think both parties did a stand up job. Cody was right about getting as much information you can. Also going to the place without starting confrontation and having the police come was perfect - might have gotten slept on if not.. cops did a great job aswell they could see they had what they needed to get the job done and they did. 👏 👌👍

We all know he's only "sorry" he didn't see the other camera and sorry he didn't hide everything better. That said, big respect to the Sheriff's office and those deputies and detectives. They were proactive and wasted no time. That's rare. They set a high bar for other agencies to follow. I'll say this, there's not many, if ANY watching this, that would have let him off like this. When you spray-paint a camera and come back with an unregistered heist vehicle, you are a career thief. Guy probably paid for his house stealing and flipping tools, generators, car parts, all kinds of stuff. Driving around with black spay paint in the cab.... Every thief says it was the first time. This guy lived in an era without cameras on properties, probably been stealing for 40+ years.

@@kerryhook7694 Correct me if i'm wrong, but you're making it seem as if the wife was part of it. I don't believe she was. She knows her husband's character, which at that gate shows that she indeed knew he had in fact commited the act of which he was accused of. But what part of having cash on hand implies that he's a thief? Yes he is a thief, yet i don't believe that's his profession. But what part of having cash on hand has to do with being a thief? At this point you're purely speculating without any evidence for it, which I don't support. The way I see it, from behavioural analysis; I saw a woman who's husband does not care about others or the law. Which is a characteristic trait. She knows her husband's character, which is why she knew he did indeed steal or at the bare minimum did not doubt it to be a possibility. From her behaviour, I saw a woman who's not like her husband, yet cannot do anything about her husband's behaviour. She does not like his behaviour, in fact she's ashamed of it. That's why she started crying. She seems like a sweetheart with a demon of a husband.

It might appear that way, that he's only sorry because he got caught, and common sense and experience might even tell us that is exactly what's happening. And that might be a correct assumption. But it's not hands down 100% the truth. You never know, the embarrassment alone might have kicked him in the teeth enough for him to start feeling actual guilt. Everyone has an image of themselves, and people like this, often lie to themselves about who they are, or why they do the things they do in an attempt to justify their actions, and a lot of the time they end up believing their own bullshit. So if he thought to himself "I'm usually a nice guy and I don't do shit like this, but times are tough and I gotta do what I gotta do." you never know what he was thinking when he was staring down the barrel of reality. Maybe he couldn't deny it any longer, that he was kind of a piece of shit. All of that being said, I'd only feel as sorry for him (if you were at all inclined to do so) as you could while keeping him at arms length.

Stole the words right from me. Agreed. The guilt that man has to live with is going to be punishment enough. The new way his wife is going to view him is going to probably change his life. I LOVE that it was never about the money for Cody. It was about the message and I think that was really nicely conveyed.

Not only that, but the man is clearly a kleptomaniac, he does it for the simple thrill, not for the prize. By shaming him in front of his wife/internet and for being the bigger man, (despite being a third his age) will make the older man's delinquent desire to steal become diminished, as the pain of this moment eats away at him every time he looks into his wife's eyes. Jail-time would not have given him this lesson... compassion in this case, is justified.

Hi from Australia, I got a decent 3.5 tonne trolley jack with detachable handle, solid axles, proper steel wheels that require that I have timber under it when I work on a vehicle on the side of the road so the jack can roll it raises. A jack like the one he showed would be banned from import and sale here as it would not pass our "Safety Standards".

The slow response time for police is the fact that it has to be investigated. This young guy did the heavy lifting for them and THAT was the key to a quick process of getting justice. RARELY does stuff like this work out to your benefit so fast. This was a very satisfying conclusion except for the that this THIEF lied then tried to rationalize his behaviour...Forget Him!!! Well, now he knows and he's an embarrassment to his wife as well.

Search warrants take maybe 15 minutes to obtain..the officer passes it up to their supervisor who calls a judge and they explain what they got and the judge will sign a warrant. The reason why this guy didnt go to jail is because the owner of the property made it a civil matter instead of criminal meaning they came to an agreement and he didnt press charges. If you guys have anything with a vin # or serial # save that info because if its stolen thats what police will need along with an estimate of what its worth. So if they do a drug bust they will run the vin and serial #s of everything in a nationwide database and if it comes back as stolen they get charged and u get your shit back or if its destroyed its on file along with the estimate and the court process is super easy at that point. I work as a 911 dispatcher and police work isnt taking fingerprints and foot prints and hunting people down, they take reports for you incase its insured and document the stolen items incase they find them in the future. In the 4 agencies ive worked for we are always busy, so take 5 minutes to document your shit so we can find it
