The Island of Fuvamulah is home to one of the rarest fish in the world: the Kattelhi fish. Why is this fish so rare? Because it lives exclusively in the deep blue waters of Fuvamulah Island, and I'm going to try to catch one!
Hi, in case you don't know us, we are the Kiwi Boys. Two of three teenage brothers who are liveaboard sailors seeing the world. We've been living on the ocean for the past five years and are loving it!

Excellent video Declan. Yea I've heard of those fish before. I thought they were just bottom feeders at great depths 300 plus hundred meters down. I guess if they ship to FRANCE it has to be done ASAP. That would be interesting how they would do it. Nice that the fishermen took you out to experience how they catch the fish. Even though YOU did not catch one it's the thought that counts. Until next video stay safe

About fishing.....they say that it's not about the "catching" as much it is about the experience of fishing. Or some hullabaloo like that 😊😊😊 Mudding and fishing. What else does one wish to do at the bottom of the Maldives? So how did your gift of gills taste?

When you make it up to Alaska, you have to go halibut fishing. It is the best. It’s kind of the same thing. You fish at the bottom and these fish are huge. It’s like pulling up a 55 gallon drum sand from the bottom of the sea. It’s great exercise and you will definitely catch them.

Sorry mate, I missed this episode. Um those so called "rarest" fish, are our Nz Hake. Mainly caught down south here. You get the odd one up north, but mostly down south off the coast. Btw, there's no such thing as a poor fisherman....as Confucius says. "To catch a fish, a baited hook has to be in the lorter." Quite simple really. 😮 Thanks again for the upload mate. Take care.

@@kiwiboys Not your fault mate. When I realized the locals claimed it to be the "rarest" I thought like the Tui ads, "yeah right." If it's rare, you would protect it. You wouldn't allow it to be caught. Same with our toheroa shellfish. They are around, but protected until stocks build up again. Thank you for your posts. Atb.
