In fact, the last time this happened to me (by some guy in his 40s), I flat out told him, “You know I’m old enough to be your mother, right?” So thanks, but no thanks.” When he asked me again, I said, “I’m not comfortable with that” and left. Linda did not get scammed. She paid for a service, an expensive one but a service nonetheless. She knew the face of the real man, she looked into the couriers, etc and still continued to go along with it. This service is called role play. The man curated her dream man and had to deal with her on a daily basis and she paid money to keep it going.

If older relatives are giving money away to a scammer, then relatives can go to court to control the money and stop the spending.

Ran into someone online who said he was stationed with the army in Ukraine, so very lonely, and they weren’t feeding him. I knew that was a lie, the U.S. armed forces are the best supplied in the world. He was trying to set me up for a romance scam. I ignored him despite his best efforts to get me to talk to him. Took a couple of days before he gave up. These guys are relentless if they think they got a victim….

This show is great because just when you start to feel a little bad ...they say something pretty gross or disturbing that makes you feel better about laughing at them .

Imagine working your whole life to set your wife up in a secure home and nest egg for her to blow it all on some Nigerian scammer. As somebody who is terminal this hit deep for me. I’m currently doing all I can to make sure my wife is supported when I go, I couldn’t fathom all my hard work be pissed away like that.

It's so ironic that she talks about how lonesome she became after her husband passed away: eat alone, watch TV with no one to talk to, and no one to give her a hug or a kiss. Yet, her online boyfriend could not and would not give her any of that either. She was still alone at home, at the dinner table, and in front of the TV. But her addiction to the fantasy of her online "romance" was enough to keep her sending him money. She paid for pretend companionship over the internet. She may not think that she got her money's worth but she was willing to pay.
