I just replaced mine and having that one min or two without the iud felt like I was free, I can't believe how much of discomfort my body got used to that it became a regular feeling. So I can understand that feeling when she took it out lol but I would never do it myself. That's messed up.

OMG. Mine couldn't even be removed at the doctors office, it was excruciating pain when they tried, so I had to have it surgically done.

I only lasted one month with an IUD (the copper one bc I wanted to get away from hormones)...I know how painful it is to put it in and to take it out but I've done all of that with my gyno as anyone should bc of serious health issues of not doing the procedure correctly. But I can see why she thought to be freeing and the right choice. In my whole 22 years of living I've never, NEVER experienced such excruciating pain on my period before. The pain was so bad that it irradiated to both my legs and I could feel the pain all the way to my toes. It was absolutely hell and I was left crying like a toddler on the arms of my mom bc I was passing out from the pain. Not even the strongest painkiller available on the pharmacy was working. I only lasted 5 days of my period and on the 6th I took it out. Probably one of my biggest regrets so far was doing that to myself but I would not dare to take it out myself as even taking it out hurt tremendously and it was done by a professional. Catherine's a whole another level of crazy

Seriously, self removal of IUD will most certainly result in infection and internal scratches causing damage. Mine saved my period symptoms ever month as I suffered so badly. It did take 12-15 months to actually make a difference, but omg worth the wait! When putting the next one in when it runs out and is removed by DOCTOR, the body just carries on without being interrupted

I'm pretty sure that it depends on the type of IUD and the situation. I just spent time in the hospital getting blood transfusions due to my period and anemia. I was admitted with a 2 hemoglobin. When I consulted an OBGYN not 5 days ago and one of the selling points for the IUD was self removal. I certainly think she should've left a disclaimer letting the viewer know she isn't giving medical advice and is not qualified to do so. She has a young impressionable audience and as long as she caters to that demographic she needs to be more responsible. But then again what do we really expect of these people? They have built a career on being incredibly self serving and doing the wrong/irresponsible thing time and time again.

I've had a copper iud for 8 years now and I wouldn't dream of removing it on my own! The hormonal ones scare me a bit, but non-hormonal iud awesome. Even with the hormonal ones, it they make you feel bad, go to the doctor to get it removed!

To the IUD Situation: IUD are for birthcontrol, loosks like she got a harmonal one which prevents the production of egg-cells AND if u have no egg-cells that needs to get out through bleeding (the PERIOD) then you won't get a period?! Your body thinks you are pregnant and that's why there is no reason for the body to get a period. That how the pill works as well just the only difference is, that the pill transfers harmonal into your whole body (which isn't good at all) and the IUD only spreads the harmones into the the womb/uterus (which is better, cuz in comparison to the copper IUD there are less risks for younger women). So that one part aside. Why the heck didn't she go to her doctor who put it in her to ask question/ get medical advices or to tell him/her to get that out of her? BUT DONT DO IT YOURSELF! (Rant over)

Don't appreciate her misinformation however I will say from personal experience getting an IUD put in is a lot more traumatic and intense than I was ever lead to believe and most girls are that way too. It caused lots physical pain as well as mental trauma from having it inserted, I was fortunate to have a very kind and patient doctor but many women do not receive that, lots aren't told about the actual effect and how intense it can be and once the procedure is done they just kick you out. It all happens very fast and feels extremely violating, not to mention the ever growing list of complications I have personally experienced since having one inserted. Her misinformation is not okay however IUD's aren't a simple choice for birth control,, there are many many options out there and I highly suggest anyone reading to look into other options or do VERY thorough research prior to getting an IUD.

I have an IUD and I remember that my Doctor told me that when I want to remove it I had the option of going there so they could do it for me, or either I could do it, so I’m a bit confused about that, tho I still think that she could’ve handle the situation a bit better
