@@L3WGReacts They had it bad, but all peasants had it bad so saying only women suffered is not only ridiculous, but sexist towards men. The kind of society we live in today huh? It sucks that people wanna believe their own ideals over actual facts.

​ @Mao Zedong Ehhhhh, I agree that in general life was horrible back then for everyone. However, for most civilizations, women were disadvantaged more comparatively to men. While conscription is horrible, you have to remember that historically, most of the time people had to supply their own weapons and armor. In Rome, being in the military was seen in fairly high light, it meant you were someone well off. Conscription was not a universal thing throughout history, and women have sometimes also been conscripted to do various non combat related work or even some actual combat work in times of need. Also saying that, "Women actually had it pretty easy back then." is not exactly true. If you look at more upper-class, or lower-class women, in general they were disadvantaged overall compared to their male equivalents. In performances at the Flavian amphitheater (yes I'm calling the Colosseum that, i watch way too much Lindybeige) women were seated at the very back far from view along with the poor. They were only considered citizens though their husbands and other family members, this also meant the average women had little to no political power. Leading to them being in rather lower standing in the society. This being because Rome is of course a patriarchal society, where men were given more power. (although that doesn't mean I love it any less) In most religions women are seen as below men Housewives were also often left helpless to their husband as they relied on them financially. It doesn't help that job opportunities were more limited for women . Women took the last names of their husbands. In feudal Japan women could not own property, and seen as impure. I could go on Again I understand your view point but it is rather one sided, and to say that, "All peasants had sh*tty lives" Women were disadvantaged more comparatively to men which is because most societies were patriarchal which led to women being of a lower-class and thus often being treated worse. Nevertheless you are entitled to your opinion.
