Very impressed. I was born and raised Catholic been JW most of my life. I've spent the last 10 years studying history and the text of the New Testament and found out JW's don't have truth. The Church does have the original connection to Jesus and the Apostles. A one of my professors calls the Church the proto-orthodox because they won between all the diversity in the various groups that developed. Going forward I took a class on the Catholic Church and one on just the Popes and was extremely impressed. The Church is the longest lasting Organization ever. Jesus taught we must have fellowship, do good and live a clean life. Thanks

Contending earnestly. The Catholic church is the original Christian church and the original Bible Church who made the Bible in the first place. Stop trying to scare people away with your shallow Protestant theology when you Protestants can't even agree on what the Bible means with each other. The term katholikos in Greek means “in regard to the whole” or “universal”. It was first used to refer to the Church by St. Ignatius of Antioch in his Letter to the Smyrneans in the year 108 (75 years after Christ’s death and resurrection): "Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church." The word catholic is also integral to the Nicene Creed, the 4th century creed considered the foundation of orthodox Christian belief: “I believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.” The word catholic is not capitalized there because it isn’t referring to a proper name, but rather an attribute of the Church. That is how the word was always used up until the Protestant Revolution (and before that the Orthodox schism). Now you know ....don't forget that .... There was no protestant religion at the time of Christ ....you guys were late to the party .....1500 years late . Additional info : Catholic (term) - Wikipedia From the Greek “ekklesia katholiki” meaning universal church. The phrase first appears in written records in 107 AD in the Epistle of St Ignatius of Antioch to the Smyrneans. It appears without explanation so probably was already a well-known term of description for the Church. The Katholiki term became more widely used in the 2nd and 3rd centuries to make the distinction between the Apostolic and Universal Church, and sects such as the Marcionites, Sabellians, Valentinian Gnostics and so on. The term kath’olon means “according to the whole”. Now take a chill pill and digest that ......and think about the tithes you pay which ironically enough is what Luther protested about and which protestants pay ( tithes) today . Hypocrisy at its highest ,( 10 %)

@@rhwinner Catholic Church” in the Bible Many people argue that the Catholic Church is not the Church founded by Jesus Christ beginning with Peter and the Apostles. One argument often made is that the phrase “Catholic Church” does not appear within the pages of Scripture. Aside from the fact that this argument is weak since the words “trinity” and “Bible” are not contained in Holy Writ either, is it really true that the Catholic Church is not named in the Bible? Well, take a look at the following verse from the Acts of the Apostles, and decide for yourself: Acts 9:31 (Greek) ἡ μεν ουν εκκλησια καθ᾽ὁλης της ιουδαιας και γαλιλαιας και σαμαρειας ειχεν ειρηνην οικοδομουμενη και πορευομενη τω φοβω του κυριου, και τη παρακλησει του ἁγιου πνευματος επληθυνοντο. From this text, we can see the Greek word “kath olays” which is rendered “Catholic” in modern English and the word “ekklaysiaye” which becomes “ecclesia” in English and is commonly translated as “church”. εκκλησια καθ᾽ὁλης = ekklaysiaye kath olays = “the church throughout all” = Catholic Church✨✨

Tithes is in the bible... hint: its found in old and new testament...
@chommie5350
@chommie5350 Жыл бұрын
@@jeffreyalilin7314 nope .... There are seven decisive reasons for saying Christians are not required to tithe. 1. Believers are no longer under the Mosaic covenant (Rom. 6:14-15; 7:5-6; Gal. 3:15-4:7; 2 Cor. 3:4-18). The commands stipulated in the Mosaic covenant are no longer in force for believers. Some appeal to the division between the civil, ceremonial, and moral law to support tithing. Yet these divisions, I would observe, are not the basis Paul uses when addressing how the law applies to us today. And even if we use these distinctions, tithing is clearly not part of the moral law. It’s true the moral norms of the Old Testament are still in force today, and we discern them from the law of Christ in the New Testament, but tithing is not among these commands. 2. The examples of Abraham and Jacob are not normative patterns. Some think tithing is required because both Abraham and Jacob gave a tenth, and they both lived before the Mosaic covenant was in place. Such examples hardly prove tithing is for all time, however. Abraham’s gift to Melchizedek was a one-time event; there is no evidence he regularly gave God a tenth. Jacob’s giving of a tenth signified his gratefulness to God for promising to be with him and to protect him. His gratefulness and generosity still speak to us today, but a historical description of what Jacob gave doesn’t support the idea that all believers must give God a tenth of their income. 3. Tithes were given to the Levites and priests, but there are no Levites and priests in the new covenant. Levites and priests were tied to the sacrificial system of the old covenant. Now all believers are priests (1 Pet. 2:9; Rev. 1:6; 5:10; 20:6), with Jesus as our Melchizedekian high priest (Heb. 7). 4. The tithe is tied to the land Israel received under the old covenant. Israel was supposed to celebrate a tithe every three years in Jerusalem. But that requirement cannot apply to Christians today. It related to the Jews as a nation-to Jews who lived in the land of promise. With the coming of Christ, the Jewish nation is no longer the locus of God’s people, though individual Jews are part of the church through faith in Jesus. The earthly Jerusalem is no longer central in God’s purposes (Gal. 4:25). Believers are part of the heavenly Jerusalem (Gal. 4:26) and look forward to the city to come (Heb. 11:10), to the new heavens and new earth (Rev. 21:1-22:5). Abraham isn’t heir of the land of Israel, but of the whole world (Rom. 4:13). 5. If tithing is required today, how much should we give? As noted above, the number was certainly more than 10 percent and closer to 20 percent. Those who advocate tithing should probably settle on 20 percent.🤣 6. When Jesus affirmed the tithe, it was before the dawn of the new covenant. Some defend tithing by saying Jesus praised tithing, even if he said it was less important than other things (Matt. 23:23; Luke 11:42). This argument appears strong, but it’s not persuasive. Jesus also mentioned offering sacrifices in the temple (Matt. 5:23-24), but Christians don’t think-even if the temple were rebuilt-that we should do that. Our Lord’s words are understandable when we think about his location in redemptive history.

I know some evangelical Protestants are going to start commenting without watching the video and I just want to tell them this. I love you guys. I said this in the comments of the Keith. Nester video yesterday but it still is true today. You guys are my brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ. There’s good Catholics and bad Catholics. Good Protestants and bad Protestants. Some who really love their faith and know it and some just going through the motions in church. It’s not just a Catholic thing. Same with false preachers you got people who really want to preach the gospel in both and you have people who just want your money and to lead you astray. It’s not uncommon. The challenge is finding ones who really do want to preach the gospel. Also please watch the video in full. I think you’ll learn a lot, because the one thing I can’t stand from you guys is the lies. That still doesn’t take away from my love for all Christians.

@@minterbell You can't prove something like this Biblically. It requires Historical proof, not Biblical. The writings of the Bible end about 100 AD. Although the beginning of the Lords Church is Pentecost May 25th 33 AD according to our calendars. Pentecost is in the Bible along with Jesus changing Simons name, charging him with the taking care of His sheep and lambs and several other passages. Your Bible proves the Church already existed. You have it and the self appointed leaders of your belief system had the Bible to choose your cannon from. They didn't dig it up like the dead sea scrolls.

@@minterbell Gregory says two things. 1:Jesus started the Church. 2:It has continued to exist today. The Bible can only support the first. I already showed that. for anything to be Biblical there should need to only one reference though. Look up when the Gospels were written. All four have Jesus giving the 11 Apostles specific instructions. Look how late the Gospels are on the scene though! They end by Jesus instructing His Apostles in 33 AD The Acts of the Apostles begins where the Gospels ended. It was written around 60 AD Two key points. The Apostles replace Judas with a successor- 33 AD and they make changes for the Gentiles-50 AD. Both things are recorded when the book was written 27 years and 10 years later. Who did they do it for? A book that was yet to be written for followers yet to be found? Or did they do it for the Church that was already existing? THINGS were done and then recorded much later. Paul writes many letters.. Go check the dates when they were written and then ask yourself why were they written? If there is no single unified Church yet in existence then by what authority is Paul writing or the Apostles deciding anything? The Timothies ~ 60s address false teachers and Bishops. You don't need Bishops if your only writing a book. You do if you have a Church for those Bishops to serve in. You shouldn't have ANY false teachers if there is no Church. With no Church to combat false teaching there would be no doctrine that was false! It would be like it is today. Whatever you wish to teach is true, all you need is a Bible. Back then there was no Bible though. I could have simply said that the Biblical proof of the exitance of the Church was any NT book besides the Gospels but you wouldn't have liked that. You apparently don't accept that...Matt 16:18 directly mentions the Church that Jesus is going to build

@@minterbell I don't know what other proof from the Bible will satisfy you. Isn't most of the New Testament sufficient? Do you need a specific passage and would one be enough? If you want passages then this would be an ideal subject for the Catholic Truth to cover. The only time I copy something from a website is when I copy scripture or definitions. Like this... 1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To God’s holy people in Ephesus,[a] the faithful in Christ Jesus: 2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul, an apostle-sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised Him from the dead- 2and all the brothers with me, To the churches of Galatia: Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes, 2To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours: Paul, Silvanus,a and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace and peace to you.b 1 I am Peter, an *apostle of Jesus Christ. I send this letter to you who are Christians in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia. You are living in these places as foreigners. v2 It was God’s purpose to choose you to belong to him. The Holy Spirit has made you holy, because Jesus Christ has made you clean from *sin by his blood. May God give you more and more of his *grace and peace. Gaius Commended for Hospitality 5Beloved, you are faithful in what you are doing for the brothers, and especially since they are strangers to you. 6They have testified to the church about your love. You will do well to send them on their way in a manner worthy of God. 7For they went out on behalf of the Name, accepting nothing from the Gentiles. 8Therefore we ought to support such men, so that we may be fellow workers for the truth.

If there was no other church until the reformation- why cant people see it’s common sense that the Catholic Church is the only church that existed prior to the reformation? If I am incorrect - please let me know. But if this is true how can someone argue with this history. Kinda confused.

Jeff, thank you for the question. The thief on the cross is an exception to the rules because Jesus had not died and rose again yet, and the Christian church was not started yet. Bapti had not been given yet. So this is still Old Testament times. Not held to the same New Testament standards and commandments. Plus, the Catholic Church teaches that if you have a deathbed conversion you can still be saved as an exception to the rule.

One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, “Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!” But the other responded, and rebuking him, said, “Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our crimes; but this man has done nothing wrong.” And he was saying, “Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom!” And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:39-43) Yet even is he had not done that, we are bound by Christ's commandments, not him> He can choose to save anyone at any time Look what he did for St Paul, right in the middle of his perception of the Church, Jesus decided he was to be saved. Are those the ones in Purgatory? Are those the ones that are in Sheol?

Welcome! We will definitely pray for you!! There are two judgements. The individual judgment and the final judgement. At the individual, everyone is judged as going to heaven or hell forever, even if they have to make a stop on the way to Purgatory first. At the final judgement the dead of all ages will be judged and go to their place, heaven or hell. There will be no purgatory or shoel or anything else at this time. If we can help you with anything else, please let us know.

@@jimbob3719 I see where you're headed now. I must tell you I'm a security guard not an apologist or theologian but if you want I can give you a few thoughts. I'll be brief. The faithful don't look at the Church as lording it over them. They look at the Church, of which they themselves are part, as the voice of Christ on Earth led by the Holy Spirit. So we don't see a Holy Day of obligation and say oh the church is trying to deceive us about this. We see this simply as a part of the church's pastoral mission, to lead and guide the flock. To use a rough analogy, when you go to the airport there are a lot of rules and regulations because so much is at stake. Well how much more so when we are talking about your immortal soul. I hope that makes a little sense. 😊 If you have any further questions about the Catholic faith, I would lead you to catholic.com which is a very good website dedicated to Catholic apologetics. So if someone is not a faithful catholic would not it better for them to live in a country with very few holy days of obligation to avoid all the suffering in hell for all eternity. If God is going to require Holy days of obligation for salvation, it has to be the same for everyone. But he does not require it . It is an addition to the gospel

Ok protestants here we go Read and learn ....I sick and tired of you guys claiming exclusive rights over Christianity .....when you guys where centuries late to the party ok : For 1500 years there was only one church …..the Catholic church founded by Jesus Himself when He anointed the apostle Peter as the first pope " You are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church" Then 1500 years after that along comes Luther ( after Satan had whispered in his ear) and split the church apart ….just as Satan had instructed . Luther Calvin and others started the rot . ( Now remember this was 1500 years after Christ founded His church …..there was no protestant church ….it was the Catholic church Catholic means universal . Martin Luther, an EX CATHOLIC ( yes protestants he wasn't a Protestant initially ) wanted to reform the Catholic church but took it too far. He began the great division in the church in the 16th century .He believed he was inspired by God and that no one could criticize his ideas. He was a narcissist...he said " In a 1000 years no bishop has been bestowed with such gifts as God has bestowed upon me". He said he is certain that he has received his dogmas from heaven …..he said " I am the prophet of the Germans ". But the fact is he followed the teachings of Henry of Ockham. He started translating the bible from Greek without having any knowledge of Greek .He translated the " man is justified by faith " into " man is justified by faith alone " he added the word " alone " by himself .When someone criticized him for that he replied " Doctor Martin Luther translates it that way and that's how I want it."....over 1400 errors were found in his translation .He excluded certain books from the bible by his own authority …..he said the epistle of James is nothing more than straw because it does not present any evangelical character. Regarding the book of revelation he said that he does not find anything apostolic or prophetic in this book. He commissioned rude paintings of the pope of that time and got it published ( is that the conduct of a holy man ….a man inspired by God ?). When he blessed people he would say " May the Lord fill you with his blessing and hatred for the pope. ( Is that a blessing ? Or a curse?) On marriage he said that marriage is mandatory ….that woman was not created to be a wife but to beget children they only serve for marriage or prostitution. He said he hates divorce so much that he prefers bigamy. He allowed prince Phillip to have 2 wives and justified it based on the bible and when people found out he lied and said that one was his concubine and not his wife. He loved the virgin Mary and said she was the tender mother of God ….in his dining room He had the crucifix and and image of Mary holding the infant Jesus .He accepted baptism and the real presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. He later said that Lutheranism was no better than catholicism Now read my other comment on the origins of the word catholic ok

Not so Ben. So Christians who believe that you have to be baptized to go to heaven are the body of christ? And Christians who don't believe you need to be baptized or part of the body of christ? And those who believe in eternal security are while those who don't believe in eternal security are also? So there is contradiction and Division in the body of christ? Absolutely not. The Bible says there is one faith, one baptism, one church, and one set of doctrine. Not thousands and thousands of varying and contradicting beliefs. In Jesus started one Church which existed for over a thousand years with one faith, one hope, and one baptism and that is the Catholic church. Protestants broke away from the one true church through Martin luther, calvin, zwingly, and others who couldn't even agree with each other. They destroyed, divided, and broke apart the body of Christ and so they can't be part of it if they left it.

We agree that man is justified by faith, just not faith alone that doesn't obey the Commandments of Christ and do his will. Faith and works. Jms: 2:19-24; Mt. 19:12-17; Mt. 25:31-46; Rev. 20:14-21; Eph. 2:10; Jn. 14:151 Jn. 2:3-4, and many more. Mt. 19:16-22, Lk 10:25-37 (What must I do to be saved?) Love God and neighbor. Even enemies. Samaratin. (Love God by following the commandments. Love others too. Forgiving them. 6:9. Other verse. And then there's of course the necessity of baptism as well. And repentance. If you only have faith but you don't have repentance and baptism, and you did not seek to follow Christ or live out his commandments, that is not true saving faith.

@@happydays310 1) I never mentioned anything about being saved by obedience to OLD TESTAMENT laws. Hebrews 5:9 clearly says that Jesus saves those who OBEY Him. But don't forget that obedience to Jesus doesn't mean obedience to OLD TESTAMENT laws because Jesus didn't come to repeat the same old testament laws taught by Moses. Instead, He came to give us NEW TESTAMENT commands which He expects us to obey. For instance, in John 13:34 - 35 Jesus commands us to show that we are His disciples by LOVING one another. This is a NEW TESTAMENT command. How do you expect to be saved if you choose to DISOBEY this command ? 2) Ephesians 2:8 - 9 NEVER said that we are saved by "faith ALONE". The word "alone" was never used by Paul in that passage. It was illegally added by Protestants. What he said is that our salvation is "not by works" (Ephesians 2:9) He never said that our salvation is by "faith alone". What does Paul mean when he talks about "works". Is he talking about EVERY KIND OF WORK ? Or are there specific kinds of WORKS he is referring to ? We see the answer in passages like Galatians 2:16 and Romans 3:28. He is talking about the "works of the LAW". Which LAW ? The Law of MOSES, because Moses was the one through whom the LAW was given (John 1:17). In other words, Ephesians 2:9 is saying that we don't need the works prescribed in the Law of MOSES (eg circumcision, animal sacrifices, etc) for our salvation. It is not saying that we don't need ABSOLUTELY ANY KIND OF WORK in order to be saved, because there are some specific works that are necessary for our salvation
