I personally went to the Senate, then located at the Old Legislative Bldg (National Museum now), to have my copy of his autobiography, "Voice of Dissent" signed during a break from the session. It was one of the highlights from my college days to have met Senator Tolentino. Unfortunately, I left the book at my former workmate's house and never got back.

Actually he was the real President when FEM was exciled, maybe wala na lahat itong kadramahan sa politika kung siya ang naupong Presidente at hindi si Cory. Sa taglay nyang talino eh malamang at sa malamang napaunlad din niya ang pinas kahit paano.

TBH Arturo Tolentino and VP Salvador Laurel were both qualified to become president with their credentials alone. But Cory Aquino was literally the face of people power and the symbol of Democracy during that time even though i believe she became president unconstitionaly.

Arturo Tolentino was declared by Comelec as vice president and Pres.Marcos as president in 1986 snap election..When Pres.Marcos and family were flown to Hawaii on board a US chopper by CIA, he had taken an oath as president of PH in Manila Hotel..Cory assumed as president even if she lost to Pres.Marcos...VP elect Arturo Tolentino was a brilliant lawyer...member of international jury...distinguished senator...His minus factor was being a womanizer but he changed when he became a Born Again Christian...He was almost perfect to be the president of the PH..Cory assumed as president even if she was a big loser backed up by America to be made as a robot and a puppet...When Pres.Reagan ordered her to privatize all the govt owned and controlled corporations,she followed without second thought even if it meant sufferings of the Filipino people...Cory was worst according to Doy Laurel her VP...Doy Laurel resigned and regretted so much.....Cory suffered coup attempts 7X....Noynoy was hit by a bullet 5X...Arturo Tolentino could have been a good president if given the chance.......

Please be aware that the 1987 Constitution would have lost in the plebiscite if the Filipino people did not recognize Cory as a legitimate president. In fact, the 1987 Constitution was approved by an overwhelming majority by the voters. Moreover, Cory Aquino’s senatorial slate in the 1987 Senatorial elections won 23 out of 24 seats. And in 1992, no less than Cory’s endorsed candidate, Fidel Ramos, won the election with Imelda Marcos placing a distant fifth place.

Those GOCC’s were debt-ridden and the government is so bankrupt that it cannot anymore afford to run them. Cory did the right thing by liberalizing the economy and privatizing many industries. It ushered the Philippines’ fastest recovery from a recession in history.

@@milhouse14 kindly explain the part where the 1987 Constitution would have lost in the plebiscite I can't understand your argument Furthermore the 1992 election saw the rising of MDS how was it possible that Fidel Ramos, the endorsed candidate of the outgoing "President" won, just a coincidence or the same case to MARCOS-Robredo VP race in 2016 ....remind me again who was the outgoing president in that year???

@@aldenfriala2405 Before a drafted constitution gets enforced, it must be ratified by voters through a plebiscite. If majority says YES then the drafted constitution is ratified and gets enforced. If majority says NO then the drafted constitution gets junked and the present constitution remains. That is how the plebiscite works. In 1987, the Filipino voters overwhelmingly said YES to the drafted 1987 Constitution. It symbolized the legitimacy of the Aquino government which drafted it.

@@aldenfriala2405 Fidel Ramos won the 1992 election. Miriam Defension Santiago filed an election protest but the Presidential Electoral Tribunal of the Supreme Court junked it.

At talagang nanalo sila ni FEM as President at VP Tolintino. Pero anong nangyari, Wala iniba Ang constitution. Di siya pinaupo as VP.
