Brotha that smoke from the exhaust looks suspect as hell. How are your piston rings? Have you overheated at all?

@@kegankelly3073 it was most likely the turbo seals. And all bmws turbo seals wear over time. Especially mine being at 130k miles and having a catless downpipe.

@@duncancheeves gotcha, I thought she was lower mileage so didn't really consider that all too much. The stock turbo was pretty decent for me actually. I'm fully built now with a Borg top mount & a custom exhaust manifold.

@@F30Klaus Get a catless downpipe and a muffler delete, but I wouldn't get rid of the res. Catless downpipe and muffler delete is loud and sounds good, getting rid of the res too would make it slightly louder but not in a good way. It makes it sound a bit 'dirty' and it will give you a lot of drone - not a good sound.

I'm so glad to hear that I have helped inform you! So the headlights and front bumper are both actually factory. The headlights were a halo option from factory that was a more expensive upgrade and the bumpers (front and rear), steering wheel, etc. is from the m sport package from factory also a more expensive upgrade. Both the headlights and bumpers can be bought at several places but I would recommended kies motorsports. Depo halos and m sport kit would be the thing to look up. Also I'm not too sure about the tint it was on the car when I bought it. I would assume it is not 5% but defiantly on the lower side. Hope this Helps!!

Okay so first my muffler guy cut right in front of the resonator and took the whole stock exhaust off. So resonator and all the way back to muffler and tips is off. Then he made a single pipe going almost to the back and then did a y pipe then he went back to both sides of the car where my diffuser holes are for the tips and did my dual tips on both sides. I had to buy a special diffuser on amazon for the dual side dual tips. Hit me up on insta @f30_dunk and I’ll send you a picture of the whole exhaust

It’s rwd. And tbh gas is just as good as stock. I personally get around 26 mpg combined. More so around 19-20 around town and 28-32 on the highway. Great daily car. Gas is good power is good and it’s just fun to drive and sounds great.

No issues from doing more aggressive burbles the only thing is you don’t wanna go too aggressive on stock cats

The only reason the car would throw a check engine light would be if you messed with the catalytic converters or specifically the o2 sensors on them. If your just doing muffler stuff then it shouldn’t/won’t throw a code.

Yeah I removed the resonator and muffler by just cutting off the whole stock exhaust past the downpipe. Then we just remade the exhaust back with my dual side and quad tips. Then later on I installed the catless dp

I have gotten use to it after owning a catless car for over 3 years. I don’t think it’s that bad and shouldn’t annoy anyone riding with you or around the car to bad. It does have a gas smell tho. 🤷🏼‍♂️

headlights, rear and front bumper are all stock. From the factory as a option. they can all be bought aftermarket from kiesmotorsports. The wing is from kies as well its the high kick carbon spoiler.

From personal experience it is not too hard of an install. It may take 2-3 hrs depending on how things work out. I would suggest using something to un seize any bolts. We used kroil. Also watch a KZfaq video on it. Some people say it’s a very difficult install but as long as you can loosen up those really tight bolts you should be fine.

I recommend taking that resonator out. That holds back the sound a good bit. It’s never going to be as loud as mine if you don’t go catless but it will still be loud. I have other videos on my channel or my car with no muffler and no resonator but still the stock cats.

It’s pretty droney nothing that bothers me but definitely rumbles. Shakes up some of the plastics in the car.

The muffler guy I went to had all the piping and did it himself. The exhaust tips were from Wesdon Automotive

I would say yes its louder in person. But the video gives a pretty good representation. When revving it in neutral its the loudest. ear-piercing is the right word

@@bensellick Nice 👍🏼 sounds fun. Keep in mind rub into some clearing issues with the quad tips. The battery is right where the tip is supposed to go but I had to angle the tip to get it on there. You can barely tell. I’ll probably make a video on it soon. Most people don’t know about it

Yes this is a issue on these car. The guy that did your car is right the battery box is on the left side of the car and hinders the tips from being perfect. We beat in the back side of my left tip and angled it in a way that we could keep it flush with the car.

I haven’t really heard of those being common issues however I didn’t ever have any issues with either thing. Turbos seemed to hold up great and love making boost.

@@losertown2785 the turbo seals I have heard can fail. But I think it’s not too much to worry about. Turbo seal wise at least. Only worries would be tuning beyond a regular stage 2 tune. Some people have pushed their motor too far and blown either the turbo or the motor. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Tbh man the only time I really timed my 0-60 was when I was on a stock tune. These cars launch control really isn’t that great so I hadn’t been able to get a accurate time. I’m stage 2 and have a xHP transmission tune and the car is definitely faster. If I had to guess my 0-60 would be probably around 5.5 secs and when I was stock it was like 6 secs. So if that tells you anything.

You need to buy the license from protuning freaks then you can download their agent and app on the computer or the app on they’re phone and buy a obd adapter or Bluetooth obd connector.

I would suggest hitting up pro tuning freaks email and asking what you need and how to download they’ll explain better than me and they helped me

FBO is intercooler, catless downpipe, intake, and bootmod3 tune. FBO basically means any mods that can be simply bolted on for performance without having to take the engine apart or going like big turbo. The sound comes from the catless downpipe it has as well and a full straightpipe from the cat back. Just like 2.5in pipe to the quad tips.

Nope since it’s a turbo car it shouldn’t have any power loss. These cars go the get most out of them you need to go either high flow cats or catless.

Maybe just a muffler delete or something. Your car can sound super loud like way louder than mine. But muffler delete would be a cheap option or a axel back exhaust would give you a good tone but not be as loud. It will just cost you. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Unfortunately this car was in a accident and now I don’t have it :/ I have a f30 335i now but that 328i ran great up till that day. I put over 25,000 miles on it while it was tuned nothing ever went bad.

Catless downpipe no resonator no muffler just straight pipe all the way back to quad tips. I think the piping is 3in and goes to 2.5-.75 for the split to quad tips

the aggression and duration is maxed out for comfort and sport.

I currently do not. I’ve definitely heard that… and I’ve heard about bad charge pipes on other Bmw engines as well. I personally don’t think it’s a need because so far I haven’t heard of any failures on the stock charge pipe on the n20 engine so I decided it’s not worth the money. However another person might have another opinion on it. Just for me it’s not necessary and where I’m at won’t really help out my horse power.

@@dionzdad so I really enjoy the stage 2 93 and e30 tune bootmod3 has. I have a intercooler, downpipe and intake so I’d just suggest those. And you can do the turbo inlet pipe it won’t hurt but unless you wanna push more power than bootmod3 OTS has to offer then you really don’t need it.

Well the car did have around 135,000 miles on it but I was in a accident and it was totaled. But ran great the whole time and still ran great after the accident

Exhaust is custom. But it’s no mufflers just catless downpipe and straight piped to the back

I get this question a lot it may look that color on here but it’s definitely a light grey smoke. I’ve further diagnosed this because I wondered myself and was concerned. Based off what I see and what I’ve heard it’s just unburned fuel and it burns off as a smoke out the exhaust. Maybe overfueling because of the tune. Im swapping up tunes soon so we’ll see if that helps.

I think every N20 burns a little bit of oil, it's the way they are designed. I just top mine up every 500-1000 miles.

@@chrisjr200108 so based on what I know I think you don’t just have a downpipe. You have headers connected to your cats since you don’t have a turbo. So you’re gonna have to buy catless headers.

Custom. But it’s just a catless downpipe. With a strait 2.5in pipe to a y pipe towards the back coming to the quad tips.

thanks! havent ever heard of the oil pump going bad but my car was super reliable. Didnt have any issues. it was at 138,000 miles and probably tuned for 25,000 of those. i never did the timing chain didnt get the chance.

@@duncancheeves thanks for the response Brodie and the oil pump drive chain assembly is normally done along with the timing chain. Thinking about going bootmod3 boutta but 80k. Any lil maintenance things you’d recommend?

@@ronaldreygan6965 honestly since I had no issues I can recommend much preemptive maintenance engine wise but ill say this. Alway change your oil when your supposed to, use synthetic oil, get new ngk 1 step colder spark plugs before tuning as well as new coil packs. That's pretty much standard for every bmw before tuning and improper oil use and changing can tear up the engine.
