Holy shit, I can feel the recoil from watching this. Are older revolvers usually this strong?
@onecallousedАй бұрын
Has more to do with the caliber than the age. The SAA grip let the weapon roll back so it was easier to cock the hammer for the next shot, so the high muzzle flip looks almost exaggerated in comparison to a modern semiauto.
@charleyking8931Ай бұрын
Yes. 45 Long Colt has quite a kick to it, from what I've heard. I've never fired it personally, but I've read that it's got about the same amount of kick as 45 ACP (which I have fired on several occasions). I'm definitely not proficient enough with recoil management to be comfortable shooting it with one hand lol
@ericclontz2706Ай бұрын
It depends on ammo.. you can feel those 265 grain hard casts pretty good out of a 7.5 barrel.
@bomboklatdog622Ай бұрын
Colt SAA revolver was created when black powder was used in firearms. I guess the modern (smokeless which is heavily used since 1890's)powder affects on recoil, since it produces much more energy
@jimwestberg4771Ай бұрын
Black powder 45 colt with the common period commercial loading of a 250-255 grain lead bullet and 40 grains of 2.5-3F powder can produce velocities of 1000-1150 fps, so it definitely aint no slouch (its actually not too far off the low end of 44 magnum velocities). Compare that to the commonly available Cowboy action smokeless loaded ammo where its usually about 750 fps. This is mostly due to the pressure curve of smokeless being MUCH higher than black powder and older designs like the colt not being able to handle a steady diet of hot smokeless ammo.

You forgot the old cowboy loading rule "load one,skip one, load four" it'll drop the hammer on an empty chamber.
@TacticalTerryАй бұрын
That particular generation of Uberti Cattleman has a firing pin that is tied to a safety mechanism. I believe there is a floating lever that the fixed firing pin sits on. Causes misfires if you don't have a particular pattern of follow-through on the trigger press.

Number one, he's not carrying it, he's at the range shooting it. Number 2, that's not the "old" way of doing anything. That didn't come about until the 1960s and the rise of CASS, along with a overall increased interest in safety.

“You’re a wanted man Mr. Morgan, five thousand dollars for your head alone.” - Agent Milton Edit: To make the historically accurate military SAA revolver in rdr2, keep barrel length at regular, rifling, a blued finish, and dark walnut grip. But if you want to make a Calvary version put a longer barrel on it.
