The original concept for Harley in the cartoon had her as a woman hopelessly in love with the Joker despite the constant physical and mental abuse. Pretty dark, when you think about it.

When I was a kid I saw her as a heroine and that the movie was hers, I only realized now that she was the villain of the movie. It doesn't change anything because she's still the hero for me.

Penguin killed a thousand of children in his criminal past, and tried to do it again, he bertrayed her and wanted to nuke an entire city. He also used his penguins as bombs

I just love how crazy and funny she is like she genuinely scared me and seemed a little deranged it didn't seem forced at all it showed in her demeanor and voice I loved her fake metal claws they fit the aesthetic and they looked deadlier and nothing could beat her iconic line idk about you miss kitty but I feel so much yummier lol

What I like about her catwoman is that it was never explained in batman returns whether she was just a deranged woman suffering from schizophrenia or brain damage from fall or was she really revived by cats and got magical cat like gifts. To those saying confirming she was revived by Cats, no she was not. What we saw are cats licking her body. As audience we only assume one explanation is she might be revived by cats. This is a viewers point of view while watching batman returns. It gave catwoman an origin but a mysterious one open for interpretation. Halle Berry's catwoman i believe is not cannon though it implied that selena kyle is one of the chosen avatars of Bast the Egyptian cat goddess as her picture was one of the many supposed catwomen through the years. I prefer the mysterious origin of Selena Kyle in batman returns.

her performance is just. wowza. sexy, disturbing, and terrifically witty. archetypally exact yet alive and idiosyncratic. somehow an acting tour de force in a piece of pulpy pop fun. if the academy weren't prejudiced out of their asses against genre films she definitely would have been considered for, if not awarded the oscar. it's every bit deserving of it. just a phenomenal performance with a surprising amount of dimension drawn from what started out on the page as both literally and figuratively a two-dimensional character. really amazing
