@@madisonwatai1621 Miranda demoted Emily from the fashion week in Paris job because she was testing Andy with a choice: go to Paris or not go and Miranda would assume Andy wasn't serious about her future at the magazine or any other publication. Miranda saw a lot of herself in Andy and wanted to see what she would do in regards of making the choice to either climb the ladder or staying true to her values by not sabotaging Emily, who was already excited about going because she was already in line to go before Andy was hired. And Andy didn't disappoint, in spite of the difficult decision.

Emily is the most realistic character in the movie. She really deserved to go to Paris, She was hardworking, so dedicated at work, and a brilliant person who sure deserved a big future with big dreams. I didn't think it was fair when Miranda chose Andy, not Emily. She so wanted to be in the fashion world, I believe Emily was so strict with Andy because she knew how difficult this life was...
@BearAndBunny06052 жыл бұрын
As sad as it is that Emily was sabotaged in the film, it actually happens in reality. People are faced with the choice of either stab their coworker(s) in the back for a job opportunity they are more qualified for in the first place before they came along or stick to their values by not slitting their throat, so to speak. Some do it on purpose, others are given the decision by a supervisor where they have to choose for themselves. But it really does happen in the workplace environment. 💔

I love how we reevaluated her character lately, from the comic relief of the mean girl to a great worker who's done everything possible to achieve her dream to work with her idol. She had to live abroad, probably having no relatives in New York and not enough free time to make friends outside of colleagues like Serena who have their own life (hence the cold answer when Andy asks her about her plans for the weekend) and you can see she never sabotaged anyone during her career from the way she takes the announcement of Andy going to Paris instead of her, she considers it to be a betrayal from her colleague.
@MsJubjubbird Жыл бұрын
she's a good worker but she doesn't understand the concept of work smarter not harder. All those hours and she's never impressed Miranda. This is a creative industry and she's just a drone. Perhaps if she'd been like Andy and told Miranda 'no' a few times, then Miranda might have thought "hey, this is a girl who knows her worth." Or if she'd told Miranda of her own career objectives or personal interests then Miranda might think "this girl has many dimensions to her". Perhaps if she could show Miranda she could get people to do things without bullying people thn Miranda might see she has the people skills to go further. Emily may put in more hours but Andrea is more talented and in life, talent counts. Really Emily should be in another job.

I love her even more in the movies where she took off her clothes. My Summer of Love, Charlie Wilson's War, The Wolfman... yum yum

Being able to be memorable in a movie with heavyweights like Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway and in one of her first roles in a movie it's just amazing!! 😍😍❤️❤️❤️

I need to know if the laugh after "hideous skirt convention" was scripted or not. It's perfect.

Shes absolutely class in this film. I could not have had less interest in watching a film about fashion (or at least thats what I assumed it was about from the trailer) but then saw the cast included Meryl and so I had to watch it. What an absolute treat it was. Great film.

Emily Blunt played this character so well. There are little touches she did (the chuckle at the hideous skirt convention remark, the clipboard hiding her smile) that made the character so real. Props!!

It also proves that beneath all that Emily has a heart of gold & understands that Andy is the one who could be her real friend. So in the sequel book, she joins hands with Andy & remains her BFF for life.
