During the time of the British Empire, they used to export their ales to India, by the time the beer arrived in India the beer had spoiled so the breweries decided to experiment with the recipes to fix this, they found adding more hops improved the beers survivability and taste. The breweries called this beer for export to India, Indian Pale Ale or IPA.

Really interesting video mate. I’ve been into craft beer for about 2 years now and honestly there’s so much choice out there. A lot of bad beer but also a lot of fantastic beer and it’s an interesting thing to do to dive into the different styles of ales and lagers. This could be a great series of videos as there’s quite a few companies trying to be that entry-level craft beer company for people. Awesome video though mate, enjoyed this one

I quote from Wikipedia: "Pilsner (also pilsener or simply pils) is a type of pale lager. It takes its name from the Bohemian city of Plzeň (German: Pilsen), where the world's first pale lager (now known as Pilsner Urquell) was produced in 1842 by Pilsner Urquell Brewery." You can still get Pilsner Urquell (it's brewed in the Czech Republic). It's one of my favourite lagers. Although you rarely see it on draught in pubs here in London, it's sold in bottles, in many supermarkets.

Great content, this is off topic but I was planning a trip to Ireland in January to try some of the different stouts and visit a couple of places like cork etc never did I think I would get Kilkenny or Caffrey’s in Tenerife and Guinness was actually not so bad better than what I’d get back home in Scotland. Would really like to see some content in places like Tenerife for example for the Guinness and maybe different Irish stouts. The Kilkenny and Caffrey’s were really nice.

Your Mans pretty good about knowing his onions. The difference between pilsner and lager generally is the different malt that’s it’s brewed with. Different IPAS are normally defined by the hops from where they originated. IPA is more bitter ( again influenced by early boil hops ) pales are less bitter. Colour and clarity also define different styles. I love punk always have some in the fridge and I brew my fair share of beer. The black heart is delicious in my humble opinion. Great selection of beers , great vid nice work sláinte cheers 👍🍻

Brewdog is probably the last place on earth I'd try new craft beer. Brewdog actually used to be a fair decent brewery until the "downsizing". The likes of Lough Gill, Blacks of Kinsale, Original 7 & Whitefield are all excellent Irish breweries. I've had beer from about 30 different microbreweries on this Island and found those to be the cream of the crop so far. I get the hipser, pretensous, snobby feel to craft beer. There's always a lad wearing a tweed jacket with a twisty moustache, reading a book he's actually not into, in his early 20s that will look down on you if you order a Heineken. Despite his beer being total shite. Double hopped ,bees arse, pale Indian man ale. Unfortunately, a lot of Craft beer is shite. More so in BrewDog.

My big gripe with Brewdog is the overstocking of it in supermarkets. My small "local" store has two shelves and a large portion of the refrigerated beer dedicated to BD, including the non-alcoholic stuff. There are maybe two other "craft" offerings, which is pitiful BUT the worst thing of all is that they don't stock Guinness! Seriously, we have 8 types of Brewdog but no room for some of the black stuff?
