It was in the loaner fleet or a demo, I don't think test drives would rack up 3k miles unless the car was sitting on the lot for 5 years, which at this point with Stellantis is a good possibility.
@TimothyNeid

@@Vincent-ke5zn It is still "new" until it is registered so he is selling it correctly. It might be a demo a dealership employee drove with a dealer plate on it thus it wasn't registered so it's "new". Warrantee is not started until the retail buyer signs the final purchase agreement and drives it off the lot.

Here is an interesting scenario. A neighbor made an offer on a leftover 2022. The dealer still has eight 2022 models on the lot. Our neighbor put the VIN for an "instant cash offer" trade in value on KBB. They took that number and made an offer on the 2022 model, with contingencies. The vehicle had a November 2021 build date. The dealer demanded MSRP, which was NUTS. The vehicle is almost three years old. They told the dealer that the day they drive it off the lot, it is an "old" vehicle. The dealer again told my neighbor there are no incentives for the vehicle. So, our neighbor asked for 5 new tires (the spare too), all fluids and filters changed (engine oil, brakes, trans, coolant) as well as a new battery. The dealer told our neighbor to "get lost". Amazing. And they wonder why their lot is packed with what you call as ... LOT ROT. Cheers.

Thanks for exposing this. Very true. I worked for GM, Pontiac Cadillac store, worked my way from washing cars to service manager; including ASE master tech. First thing I saw on old stock was batteries. Charging was futile. The trim would literally bleach out in the Florida sun. Finally, we had a dark blue Bonneville brougham that for some reason, sat so long, it could not have the horizontal surfaces buffed anymore and actually had to have the deck lid and hood/ tops of fenders repainted.

I purchased a certified used Volvo back in January in San Francisco. It had been on the lot since September. Not crazy but about 100 days. After driving it a few days I noticed that there was vibration in the front when braking due to warped rotors. The dealership stated this was due to inactivity. They did fix it for free, which I appreciated. But it also shows that if a car sits mainly unused for months that things can start to go wrong.

Yep, lot rot, and along with the "decomposition" comes fledgling depreciation. But no real deals. Too many add-ons to cut that MSRP. And on a side note, Jaguar, Land Rover break down in the show room, some on the car carrier from factory to dealer lot. Low quality and cost by OEMs. I remember when Cadillac and Lincoln had their own separate divisions with few shared parts from the Chevy and Ford parts bins. Now you can buy a Lincoln/Bronco Sport/Escape and get the same low quality, and mechanical issues.

It’s a blessing those are not available for the general public. If flying cars were mainstream, there would be 10x as many fatalities and mishaps. Too many lack driving skills as is. Now imagine those individuals piloting an automobile capable of flight. The part where you’d have to land the car would be the biggest concern. Drivers will be crashing these flying machines through the roofs of housed. And don’t get me started on DUIs lol

I was trying to buy a 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage from Canada, (I live in the US)... it was 5 speed, manual crank windows in the back, no power locks, no cruise control. I was looking too late and the allotments were very small... had to settle for a 2021 '7000 mile base car from the US to get a 5 speed... it had power windows, power locks and cruise. Locking and unlocking all 4 doors manually would have been an absolute pain if you could only use the key and no cruise would totally suck while interstate driving... I made the right choice in retrospect... but I get the point and had the same mindset a year ago. Mirage is still about as simple as a modern car as you can get these days....

I think the EV is a fantastic machine, its just the power source (aka Battery) that becomes a problem over time... if it could be powered by a mini 'consumer grade' fusion generator or something like that, the rest of the electric automobile is perfectly upto snuff.... If a MR. COFFEE generator from Back To The Future 2 was a real thing, it would put GAS ICE cars out of service pretty quickly.

EV market will drop to almost zero. Why? BYD in China sells their EV's for 1/5 of the price of a Tesla! Yet, they can't be bought in US / Canada now - and when they are available, there will be a 100% tariff on them. This angers US buyers that want a decent deal - and are severely strapped now because of Bidenomic Inflation.
