Nice. There aren’t many Pitt artist Pen users who do good stuff with it.

Thanks! Yeah, I don't see them used very often in general. I think most people favor alcohol markers because they are easier to blend, but I'd rather use these because they are more lightfast. I have fun with them!

Shana, thank you so much for this video. I switched to Pitt markers from alcohol markers for the same reason as you, I want to gift and sell the originals. Your video gave me the confidence in working with and blending the markers. I tested all of my paper including hot press and the best I have found so far is Bianyo mixed media paper blended with some makeup wedges my wife gave me :). Thank you for the video!

Thank you, I'm glad you found my video helpful! I will have to check out that paper! I also found out these work extremely well on Ampersand Encausticbord! I have a video about that as well if you are interested! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ndeSgbeQ3q3RmHU.html

You’re marker art is fantastic! I only have a set of alcohol markers that I play with occasionally. They’re not my favorite medium lol,but I don’t have you’re ability with them for sure! Maybe if I practiced more and used some of your tips I could improve.

I didn't think about india ink markers 😮 I was never really into Copics and alcohol markers because of the issues you mentioned, but these could be really fun.

I salute you, fellow art suply fiend 😅. I am also quitting alcohol markes, but mostly because they are giving me terrible headaches, lately. The lightfastness is a great added bonus, not gonna lie

😂😂😂 Yeah, I have never been a huge fan of the smell of alcohol markers! I will use them sparingly now and then in my sketchbook. But for work I want to sell, I use these! They also work great on Ampersand Encausticbord!

Another great piece, Shana. I just wanted to say, even if in the future brands do sponsor you, or send you stuff to review, I wouldn't doubt that you're being honest with your viewers when you talk about these products.

Thank you Sara, and oh yes for sure! I would never say I like something if I don't, or recommend something to my viewers if it's not something I can stand behind. I'm here to help other artists if I can.

You should try them on Yupo paper. On this paper I blend them with a bristle brush.

I have tried the Yupo paper, I wasn't a huge fan. They do blend well on it, but I like something a bit more permanent.

You already know what i was gonna ask and you answered already. But I'm gonna stay and give you some watch time. The idea that a vibrant yellow marker can be lightfast is what should inspire them all with the pencils to get better lightfastness on that end. This flower looks great btw.

Seems like you should be able to mix the pen on a pallets with water for initial tonal washes (since it's water based). Do you think the would dry as fast on a plastic or ceramic pallet. Maybe I'll just have to buy a few and see. I'm also a colored pencil artist. This interest me since once it's dry you can do more glazing or details with pencil.

I have tried it on a plastic palette, it does tend to dry quite quickly so I have found I am only able to do it a little bit at a time. But others may have different luck with it than I have.

The Pitt pens are small compared to other markers, my concern is the amount of space to cover. I would use them for smaller more simple drawings and use them with regular markers.

Yeah, they aren't very large. They do have some larger markers but I'm not sure if they have the full color range or not. I have a couple of them, but if I remember right, the larger markers are a bullet nib, so even though there is more ink overall, it might still be time consuming to cover large areas. I don't typically go larger than an 8"x10" when working with them, so I haven't had any issues with that, but I could see how others might.

@@CautionArtistatPlay The big brushes do have large brush tips (the white is a nib) and they are more flexible than the standard markers. There are about 40 colors in the big brush line. :)

Oh, awesome! I will have to look into getting more of the large ones and find some with the brush nib. The few I have are bullet nib, and I do like them but I'd be excited to try a large one with a brush nib!

And by now they replaced the standard Big Brush lens with the "Pitt Artist Pen Dual Markers" :) They still have a big brush, but also with a not-so-fine Fineliner on the other end

How are you blending those? They annoy me when it comes to blending
@CautionArtistatPlay
@CautionArtistatPlay 6 ай бұрын
I blend a lot with the markers themselves, and I have a few blending wands that I use too. Sometimes, I will use a brush to help blend them. But mainly, it helps to have a good surface to work on. Water-based markers are notorious for being difficult to blend because of they way they sink into most paper. In this video, I am using Arches Hot Pressed Watercolor paper, and it worked pretty well. They also work great on panel and Yupo paper, too. Thanks for watching!
