Protip: If you have a spare hot wire "blade" use a heavy duty (heavy duty, don't screw up your small wire cutters) Wire cutter to make the hot wire knife into a pen. Make sure to grind down the end unless you want a sharp edge. I'd at least round it off. 1-2" is most useful to me.

These are so awesome. They let you have total control over what the layout of your dungeon, caves, etc. is. In addition, they are very easy, so this is a perfect build for a novice to get started on and have something really amazing as their first project. And, when you get into more advanced things down the road, adding pools, pits, acid, etc. to make it even more interesting is the obvious route to go. Great job man!

@@TabletopWitchCRAFT Any advice for adding some grit/dirt to the tiles? I think I’ve seen you use some paint effect that looks like dirt; something I can just stipple onto the tiles. Or something that can give it a moldy look? All I can think of is using some green paint perhaps to get that look.
@TabletopWitchCRAFT
@TabletopWitchCRAFT 3 жыл бұрын
@@SGTMaitiMaus Sure, check out how I paint and "mold" up this craft. You can go heavier on the pigments too if you want more of a dirty, grimy look. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qJmFksyZzMm6qqM.html

Very multi-useful!!! There are so many cavern applications in DnD for modular cave tiles, but LMoP "Wave Echo Cave" and the Underdark came immediately to mind. Wave Echo Cave is huge in scale and this could break it down into multiple, individual session adventures! Great build!!!

I've held off making any dungeon terrain, as I just started with the hobby and realized I really enjoy making buildings -- but this is the first dungeon/cave system I've seen that makes me actually want to make some! you keep surppassing all my expectations, man. I absolutely love modular terrain and this is one of the simplest, cheapest sets I have seen and yet the results are amazing. I specially like how you did it with a hotwire knife since right now I can't affor a proxxon and was thinking if it could be usef to make good terrain. Also, you seem to really know when I'm looking for ideas, since Warcry Catacombs came out recently and I was thinkin about how to make my own terrain for it but with added verticality (wich the Warcry original game promotes and Catacombs conpletely lacks atm) and then you go and upload this. You can magnetize the sides of the floor tiles if you split them into two piles (one for each axis of the grid) and use different polarities for each pile. Make your life simple with a tester also. Hot glue a magnet (polarity doesn't matter) to a thin strip of chipboard so you can verify the polarity of the side magnets. When finished, the floor tiles should magnetize together also.

Yeah, you can definitely do that. Now you know I love magnets, but I'm just trying to simplify things so you don't have to have stack "a" and stack "b" of tiles... Cool idea though.

Wow! Nicely done my friend!! The one thing as a crafter youtuber I'm sure you encounter is how to make something unique. There's no shortage of dungeon tiles out there (BMC, DMs Craft, DMGinfo, Wyloch, just to name the biggies). What you've done here is definitely taken it to the NEXT level. I love it. I made a bunch of "cavern" tiles (slightly different than tiled dungeon tiles) via BMC and I love them, but I do really like the wall aspect of your build here! I know walls can be topics of contention for some crafters (it does have the problem of sometimes limiting sightlines), but sometimes you just need to get your players up out of their chairs! :D Awesome build! Really, really looking forward to the next three in this series!

Thank you Perry ! Another cool aspect of these tiles is that if you want to have the walls you can just place one on there without adding to it in height and your players can see their mini's from around the table. The height of one wall isn't that limiting!

Honestly, this is still one of my favourite crafting videos. It's the first one that really makes me want to build! I think I've rewatched it 10 times now and shown it to other people just because the modularity is so freaking cool. Managed to get my hands on some foam so this will be my first real project 😎

@@TabletopWitchCRAFT Hi i'm about to start this project for my D&D game and was wondering what thickness the gridded floor tiles are? I have bought the 2" Foam you linked but im realzing thats too thick for the floor tiles. Great video really inspired me to make terrain for my first offline D&D game!

The tip of the longer wire 'knife' is always cooler than the shorter one, but you could have used the length of the long one to do most of each line with one press! They're really designed for cutting using the side of the wire. The shorter ones definitely work better for carving details. A variable temperature soldering iron with a fine tip would work, but use an old tip you don't love. The biggest issue I have with my Thermocut is the less then 6" cutting height, so you couldn't use it to slice thicker foam down (I usually work with 20mm foam, which is thick enough for two tiles. So I built another one with a 12" clearance!

@@TabletopWitchCRAFT They're pretty simple to build. I built this while I was waiting for my Proxon, so it has a largeish table and plenty of space between the wire and the frame for larger pieces.

Another superb video! Love the look and utility of these! I would love to see you explore modular foam tiles a bit more. You wouldn't have to cover the basics as you could just refer to this video, but I'd love to see what you came up with for other styles and structures. Thanks for sharing!
