Very nice bike. Got one myself a few weeks ago, also from 93 but in blue. Had to replace all the o-rings and gaskets in my carburetors. I still have to install the carburetors but I hope it will run just as fine as yours afterwards.

I used to leave mine long periods but not that long.It is 33 years old now with over 45,000 miles and not needed any engine work.They are good motors with a good motorway speed and will go on all day.Off you go for the weekend now

I have the exact same bike. Owned it for 24 years. It's done 9'000 miles. It's in workshop having carbs cleaned out. Service and mot now. Will be great to have it useable again

Certainly there is a HUGE difference between a bike with old fuel in its carbs and one that has had the carbs drained. While watching this I didnt hear you mention that the fuel had been drained so I assumed it was still in there. A testament to well made Honda carb parts as well in that the manifolds didn't leak air through the cracks that form in most. Sounds like you now have a very nice bike underneath you.Yes, these are very, very smooth engines Im impressed every time I take mine out. Prepping a long dormant engine for start up is very important. Using the rear wheel to turn the engine over is the method Ive always heard to use from the successful old timers. A few drops of oil in the cylinders and time to soak in is also key.Sounds like you went about it in the proper way. There are plenty of folks that could benefit from your wisdom and excellent camera work. Maybe you could make a vid detailing the procedure involved. Not to burden you with that task..:), just a thought simply because there is so much misinformation out there let alone the horrid camera/vocal work displayed by many.Hah! maybe I will create a mock vid complete with swirling, unstable camera and 3 unintelligible audio tracks running simultaneously...just for fun of course.Thanks again for posting this. I was nowhere near as smart as you. My '93 Nighthawk 750 has been sitting for 2 years and I did not drain the tank or carbs or anything. Today I started it without doing anything at all and let it run for maybe a minute. It seemed to run okay. Hope I didn't hurt anything!

You didn't drain the old gas from the carb? It is hard to believe the bike starts like that without taking care of the old fuel...Or was the carb drained 20 some years ago by previous owner?

This is very impressive indeed, no hestation from carbs that have deades old gas/petrol in them? I recently purchased a 97 Nighthawk and was impressed that the engine turned over and idled smoothly without choke after being stored/ignored for a year or so. All my experience, 37 yrs and dozens of bikes tells me that old fuel, even 4-6 months "young" will start to varnish or solidify and clog the carb jets making the engine run very poorly and not idle well or at all in some cases. A very common ailment among stored bikes. Draining the carbs dry before storage is recomended by many in the know. But 20 year old fuel?..did you perhaps ad some restorative chemical to the fuel before starting? If not then this engine employs sorcery from the future and Im glad, very glad to own one. The still (24k on the clock) smooth engine, standard-classic UJM ergos and mid wieght size of this splendid machine sold me straight off. Thank you for posting this and Cheers.

The CB is an old warhorse. It does not break, you have to put it our of its misery with a chainsaw !

What do you mean "turned it over for 5 mins without starting". I have CB750 that's been sitting for 10 years without starting. Can you help further clarify. Like putting oil into the spark plug holes - what's the purpose of that. Thanks in advance.
