Ай бұрынCB750 Engine Damage / Bent Forks / 3 Cylinder Bliss And More! This weeks update has more CB750 action with bad news on two bikes. The CB750 chopper is getting a ton of work done but we have now discovered the forks are bent and there is no simple solution. The CB750 cafe is down a cylinder with mechanical damage that we will have to diagnose. Beyond that there is a beautiful Yamaha XS750 triple in the shop for basic work.

So with this video I put in more clips of when work was actually happening instead of just a 1 take like the previous weeks. It does jump around and cut because of that but you do see more. Do you like this style more or less than previous update videos? They are not going to be high-polish well edited videos so I definitely wont be doing music or anything so keep that in mind. Forks can be straightened fairly easily using a press and some 2x4s with Vs cut in them, and a hard plastic piece on the press plunger. You can feel the bend as you rotate the tube, get the high spot and press it a bit past straight. Rinse and repeat. You will be surprised at the result.

I absolutely love watching your video as it helps me relax. I was not aware of the Gentleman's Ride which I think is fantastic - I suffer from depression and anxiety so thank you for doing your part ❤ I unfortunately don't have a bike. I did have 3 bikes in the late 70s - Honda XL 125, Yamaha XS 250 and Honda Super Dream 250. @@BrickHouseBuilds If you’ve got a press, some decent 6x4 timber, a plastic shaped pad for the press, and a DTI, you can straighten the fork legs in an hour. Just be sure that there aren’t any cracks. However, if you have any doubts, no lawyer on the planet will get you out of your liability if something goes very wrong for the next owner. Peace 🏴

I had a 1971 CB750 chopper, I bought it from the local Honda shop that way! It had a court jester scene painted on the tank, brown suede king/ queen seat, extended forks. I put on 4 into 2 shorty headers, high rise handlebars, trident sissy bar. If you sat on it, held the front brake, you could see the forks flex! Wouldn’t take too much of a bump to bend them like yours!

Raw less polished edited videos are just as good as ones that have music etc, we just love the content, I actually prefer this style, what I like on your channel is you show as much as you can what your actually doing as most of your audience will liking building bikes themselves and pick up a lot tips and tricks, other channels only show finished products and I know I quickly lose interest on those sorts of channels

the question regarding the chopper has to be why and how did those fork tubes get bent? Is the geometry wrong or are those tubes not strong/thick enough? A question you must address before commiting further resources into what could become a re-occuring problem and more importantly a critical safety issue.

With 50k on the bike I am assuming it had some very hard bumps or jumps at some point in its history. Geometry wouldn't bend forks as it would take a lot of force. We won't know if they were bent forward or backwards so it's hard to say what really happened

@@BrickHouseBuilds After researching my fears I agree with you. There seems to be little to no evidence of bent fork tubes due to structural failure. Most instances are , as you stated , due to accidents or abuse.

I can't think of how many times I straightened slightly tweaked fork tubes in a hydraulic press during my motorcycle mechanic years. Piece of cake, not hard to do at all, just double check with dial indicator and easy to find bent spot by turning the tube in wooden v-blocks. Gentleman's Ride would be very cool to do, unfortunately, I've had to make the sad decision to hang up my helmet & gloves due to a stroke last November, on blood thinners now, so don't want to risk coming off the bike and bleeding out all over the place. No lasting damage, thank God! Great video, direct and to the point! Thanks man!

Frank's Forks, aka Forking by Frank, can make you a pair of fork tubes. The company has been around forever. Or, as already mentioned, you can get them straightened.

I had 3 xs750's as my first bikes. 3 into 1 header helped alot. Lots of fun without the baffle. Just did the cbr900rr fork swap on my cx500c just need to mount the headlight and gauges

Also, the XS 400 had so many vibrations that everything was on rubber. Also the steering rod had rubber to reduce the crazy vibrations, something that makes you believe that it was broken. lol.

I have seen fork tubes straightened with V blocks and a hydraulic press . Of course a dial indicator is needed . Might be a solution ...

I have a Cappy's frame kit that I will send you for free if you like. Install that on the 750 so you don't have to remove the engine to remove the top end. Will make a great video as well.

Get the stanchions straightened, as long as the leg isn`t creased they should be able to be trued better than manufactured spec

Each state is different but most have either 1 or 2 year inspection periods

Those forks are toast. There's a big container at my local dump, marked "metal". That should be their next home in your towns version of that. I'd put standard forks on it, & since the frame is bent, it needs one of those as well. Don't those motorcycle junk yards have lots of frames? And if the frame was modified for a chopper to move the forks forward, it needs to go anyway.

@@BrickHouseBuilds I must have it confused with the one you had the laser level on around the rear and found out it was twisted. If the neck isn't modified, I'd put standard forks on it.
