This project started out with the owner, Alan, asking for me to address the poor starting issues. Well....the deeper I got into the diagnosis the more problems I found. This coupled with very slow parts supply & an unprecidented work load with my day job resulted in this last day's repairs been some 17 months after the bike first rolled into my workshop...
By far the longest project vehicle I have ever had the pleasure of completing & one that has provided a very long Series of videos covering such a wide range of repairs. Viewer engagement & feedback have been overwhelming, with supporters of the channel sending parts for the bike from across the Globe.
In reflection of the many months that have passed since I first put a spanner on thuis old classic I felt a bumper video was needed to mark the completion - over 3 hours edited! the rushes were over 7 hours long!!
A huge Thank You to everyone who has helped with this project, without your help, knowledge & experience the bike would no doubt still be in hundreds of pieces!
Enjoy
Andy

There is a final video planned. Bike is now road legal - I need to schedule some time with the owner to do a follow up after it was returned...

@@AndyMechanic I'll be keeping an eye out for it! My dad just bought a 75 cb400f fully rebuilt and engine bored 50 over. Brand new wiring harness yet it still keeps blowing the main fuse. Been watching your videos because I also recently ordered the dynatek kit for it and am replacing the remaining few stock electronic components, plus a bigger jet kit (bike was built and tuned in a state 5,000 ft higher elevation than where we live). Hopefully that helps solves the fuse blowing issue! So frustrating having a bike so nice and so well done that you can't ride because of some tiny little electronic issue that's blowing the fuse. I think it's the ignition switch that caused a short, thing was filled with brake fluid and very corroded.

@@AndyMechanic please respond if you see this! 😭 Do you know why my bike might be leaking white smoke a little bit out of that breather on the top of the engine? Where that tappets and cam are? It's a freshly rebuilt engine bored 50 over only 80 miles on it and I'm not sure if I should be worried about it or not. It's a 75 cb400f

Fantastic series! I'm almost finished redoing a '79 KZ400. It was my first bike; I rode it back in college. It sat for a few decades in a barn and needed some TLC. I enjoyed working on mine and have enjoyed you watching your work on the Honda. Thanks a bunch Andy.

Well done Andy, great to see the rebuild come to fruition, having seen a number of your earlier videos working on this bike. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to put these videos together, learnt loads. My 400/4 rebuild is just reaching the point where all the main bits are done, which still leave loads of the types of jobs you have been doing on this video, very inspirational. Enjoy the cider and a smoke, you have earned it.

ive watched all the cb750 series as as ive mentioned before , got a basket case and its stripped right down. explanation sometimes of the manual was great , as honda didnt explain it correct, the ignition and multimetre segment helped with the coils etc ...and no doubt, i will go back through some of them again to refresh....so thanks for that !

Thanks so much for the videos and level of detail. Do you really have a pony tail? You don't strike me as that kind of guy. I plan to bypass some of the switches and connectors with a MOSFET to power the coils, inspired by what you did with a relay. I'm disappointed you didn't show us the whole bike, start it, and maybe ride it as a conclusion.

These are great videos! I have a recently acquired 1976 CB750F Super Sport that needs considerable TLC. Your content is really useful. I am, however, having a hard time finding the part number and supplier for the Redhead Shop Accessory you have on during the intro.

Three hours of CB750 stuff. Awesome! I enjoyed the autopsy of the brake line. I'd love to get an update from Allen to see if that new tach seal worked out. I don't think those bendy lock tab washer things on the lower triple tree bolts were a stock item. I've never seen those on a CB750...and it doesn't seem like they're going to do anything to keep the bolt from coming undone. Also, I didn't see the oil bulb on the dash go on when you turned the ignition. It should come on then turn off once the bike is running and pressure is built up. Maybe another burned out bulb.

Nice work, felt your pain with caliper trouble.Trip meter knob, do you think it went in the hole you put the grommet in? Perhaps the shaft it fits over has snapped off so that it doesn't protrude anymore and which would've given you a clue?

Hi, The petrol pipes are on the wrong way round and don't have clips as standard.
@AndyMechanic
@AndyMechanic 2 жыл бұрын
It doesn't matter which way around the pipes are, one feeds carbs 1&2, the other carbs 3&4. The original spring clips had lost their tension so used hose clamps as had to have something as pipes weren't very elastic anymore... Cheers Andy

@@AndyMechanic Hi Andy, The two pipes line up better the other way round and miss the throttle.I have a K3 and did the same as you but reversing them cleared the throttle and made an easier run to the carbs. Cheers Tim
