The Honda CB750 K2 project is gaining a little more momentum now the remaining parts have finally turned up! In this video we set the valve clearances on this 4 cylinder 8 valve engine. An important task prior to balancing the 4 carbs...
In the next video we fit the missing socket to the loom for the new ignition switch so we can finally install the new ignition switch too.
It's great to see this, once neglected & bodged classic motorcycle come back to life. One more step closer to it been back on the roads..

I’ve had my CB750K1 since new and have maintained it for 50 years. Andy’s very clear videos always show me something new or something I forgot 40 years ago! Thanks from Arizona.

Just a thousandths wider will actually help the valves seat better but I understand you wanting to go right by the book

On my gn250 it gives a range of .03 to .08. I use a .05 guage to fit snug but then find I am able to fit a .10 guage in the gap. What is the best guage to use when given a range?

Thanks for the great videos, they have been a great help for my K2, My bike apparently has a Yosh Cam and Piston Kit (811 or 813 cc) in it do you think the clearances would be different? Thanks

Nice :-) No, I think they should be the same as it's more to do with the valve length, material & operating temperature. Cheers Andy

Do valve clearances open up or close up over time? My thinking was they close up as the valve seat wears into the head?

Can you have someone hold the feeler guage in it and then tighten it to it?

That's not the best way, tends to be inaccurate I have found, though some techs do it that way. Cheers Andy

@@AndyMechanic just wondering. It didn't seem like a great idea to me either. I saw another guy doing it that way on another video. Didn't even use a screw driver to hold the slot in place while loosening the nut either. Your video is much better. Well done.
