Instead of making division among Filipinos or the views on the Philippines as divided and absurd, why don't you use your platform in neutrality and for unity? I am born and I live in the Philippines, and despite of the bad news, I still chose to love this country. 🇵🇭 Do not be fooled with what the western media portrays, research throughly and accurately before imposing a bias opinion.

With all due respect CBC News, you should have stayed longer in the Philippines and do the research on both sides. I don't think this a well-researched documentary report. Definitely, you cannot compare Mocha Uson with Maria Ressa. Try to interview Sen Cayetano, DILG Usec Densing, or even Atty Bruce. Don't be an instrument for the world to just hate Duterte. Please let the viewers believe again that the media is still fair and not one sided like what you are implying.

Maria Via Are you a Filipino? Have you lived in the Philippines? If not, how can you understand the whole picture? You are only relying on the mainstream media like this which did not tackle or conducted as I've said a thorough investigative news. Before the election of the Presidency, I've heard bad stories about him on the mainstream media and I was so afraid for him to win the election. I conducted my own research and wonder why so many of my countrymen forced him to run. I started researching about him and then I understand. This page is not enough if I will tell you one by one. Please have an open mind and do your own research as well.

Maria Via, have you extensively listen to the explanation of Sec Diokno of Budget & Mgt and Secretary Pernia of Neda? Dear you have to understand economics. I suggest you searched in the youtube their Build, Build, Build Project and listen to Sec Pernia in particular. It isn't easy for a commoner to understand such macroeconomics. Some loans are soft loans provided by other neighboring countries and for infrastructure which the previous administration did not do anything. The Philippines is now overtaken by Vietnam, dear Vietnam the country who just came from war. Philippines used to be the 2nd country in ranking after Japan in the Asia back in the 80's, now we are in the bottom. In the case of Arroyo, it was the Supreme Courts decision. I don't have time to explain her case but for your review, The Philippine govt has three interdependent branches: the legislative branch, the executive branch, and the judicial branch. The powers of the branches are vested by the Constitution of the Philippines in the following: Legislative power is vested in the two-chamber Congress of the Philippines-the Senate is the upper chamber and the House of Representatives is the lower chamber (wikipedia) Executive power is exercised by the government under the leadership of the President. Judicial power is vested in the courts with the Supreme Court of the Philippines as the highest judicial body. So Dear Duterte is just handling the executive. Go back to your high school days and check your text book. Lim on the other hand, check with Bato dela Rosa, there are confidential information that we are not privy but I am sure that there will be news about him one day. He declared martial law because it is now needed. You should be happy that this is the first time that Philippines has a president from Mindanao. I believe his sincerity, his love for country and his honesty. HIs mouth sometimes I dont like but look what he did, tanim bala is already addresse, BOC is already corruption free, the streets are already drug free, the druglords in the jail stopped in drug trade, many corrupt officials were reprimanded and I like his choices of his cabinet members. I told you page is not enough.

@bizzman4u
@bizzman4u 7 жыл бұрын
the best way is to stop the drugs from entering the country in the first place. This means catching the corrupt border security guards at the airport or ferry terminals that look the other way when drugs come in. Also you need to go after the financers of the drug imports so as to block the money flow to the dealers.

Folks, I was hoping that this feature would actually go into some detail and provide and insightful view of the Philippines. I live in Singapore by the way, though am a westerner. There are a lot of Philippinos here, and they all have differing opinions about Duterte and the govt per se. The feature is just anecdotal fluff. There is no data, no trends, no big picture, just a handful of opinions and case studies that add to very little. What could have been an insightful feature is anything but.
@thebeast8583

What data/trends are you after? It's not exactly a strong point in the Philippines. Government statistics can be a bit iffy, not that they line up with Duterte's exaggerated claims anyway. I've been working in the Philippines for four years.

exaggerated claims? ok beast tell me which one your talking about? drug problem?terrorism? in 4 years you probably never left you well guarded subdivision and you only go to the malls or tourist spots. I lived there for 30 years , i was a victim of those addict I was rob and almost lost my life when they tried to stab me. My GF then was sexually assaulted by those drug addict along muntinlupa. What data you need. Just ask a simple question to many filipinos in metro manila. Ask them what was it like to live in manila 4 years ago?

I'm a Filipino citizen living abroad. Pres. Duterte is good for the country. Who among the past Phil. Presidents who has got that resilience and resolve to clean up the country of drugs and criminality. The man is fearless, standing up to foreign powers who want to meddle in the affairs of our country. I watched the interview of the multitude of foreign press, he is pragmatic, with good intentions for the country, not frivolous , a type that could drain the swamp.

Why did Leila Delima, former DOJ Sec., advise her driver/lover Ronnie Dayan to hide when an arrest warrant was issued against Dayan... That is where her case start to strongly build up against her.. She don't want Dayan to be caught because her involvement to everything will be gone wildly to public and the media.. If Delima is clean and her only fault was having an affair with Dayan (Lonely)she don't have to Obstruct the Law !
