There is no need to drain oil when removing this cover. During stand oil level is below covers. Anyway thank you for video. I have leakage through sensor gasket and your video helped alot. I would also not push cover on the thread of oil filling plug. On the outline of cover there are special places with allowance where you can push cover off with screwdriver or piece of wood. And one more thing just unplug socket of sensor which is ubder side fairing not under tank and take off cover and put on table. You can easily clean it and put sealant on before instaling it back...

My oil on my bike was over full and I see now KZfaq video where do took like a the top of a hand sanitizer pump part and pumped out the excess oil I thought it was a fantastic idea till the straw of the pump fell off into the case! Can't see it to fish out you think I need to take off the clutch case or just let it get chew up and change the oil
@SnowDrift
@SnowDrift 6 жыл бұрын
Full Metal Heli that doesn’t sound like a great idea, the plastic can clog up your oil passages and cause issues with oil flow, can even cause spun bearings. Definitely do the work to get it out before starting the bike.

Hey bro so why did u remove the cover? Did u change ur clutch pack?
@SnowDrift

i removed it because it was leaking from when the timing chain and guides were replaced, i was resealing it to stop the leak and thats when the washer for the starter gear bendix fell off and into the oil pan.

I’m working on my friends bike and don’t think this has ever been removed. Should I use a heat gun to loosen the seal between the cover and casing? Or would the way with the flathead be fine and just have to use more force? I can tell someone has messed with it because most of the bolts were already lose.
@SnowDrift

Jonathan Hall in my experience heat is never a bad idea to help persuade things. If it does have the original Honda sealant then it will be very difficult to remove.

@SnowDrift
@SnowDrift 6 жыл бұрын
Giovanni Merino that’s a definite possibility if you have a sport bike, what bike do you have?
@giocmer
@giocmer 6 жыл бұрын
07 CBR1000RR..from everybody to KZfaq videos I’ve been watching ((07CBR1000RR noise in motor)) saying it’s the can chain tensioner, day it’s making that noise cause of slack. Then I heard it could be the cams heads..well my first motor ((not in the bike that we’re talking)) acted the same but it turn the motor off, not saying my lights turn off. Started it, then running...then something was in between something made a noise, so we turn it off. Long story short, I took that first motor n open top, bottom, side covers, exhaust, spark plugs, starter motor,and water pump to see if anything got caught or stuck but couldn’t see nothing wrong.
@SnowDrift
@SnowDrift 6 жыл бұрын

What was your ultimate solution to taking the cover off without the washers falling off the shaft?
@SnowDrift

There’s no full proof way. But I have had success with loosening all the bolts for the cover and tapping the general area where the washer is with a rubber mallet before pulling the cover off.

@@SnowDrift cool. I’m going to reseal my ‘07 today. Noticed some oil seeping and I don’t want it to get worse.
