There is a reason for the handle texture... Navy Seals operate in wet and cold conditions and the handle is designed not to slip our of your hand or gloves. I agree with you that this knife is best used in tactical application. Another benefit is it is very resistant to rust. In testing Seal knifes they are submerged in salt water. Enjoy our channel... thanks!

Good review ! When I think about it the original SOG knives were made in Japan out of some "nothing to write home about stainless steel so the one you have in the great SOG tradition. :) Randall knives did do a small run of this style for the CIA , I bet those were out of this world. Bravo Tac. !

Good vid. Yep, I don't like them plastic handles. Off topic, I have a question for you. I am going to get a new pistol. got my eyes set on a Colt defender or a Glock 30S. I am a 1911 guy. And my caliber has been always 45. But a while back I did buy a Glock 21, And it seems the magazines interchange between the 30S and the 21, which is a big plus. So here is the question, Which one would you pick if you were under the same predicament I am in?

Take the high spots of the handle with 0000 wire wool, or a pan scrubber lightly. Works as well on some G10 which sometimes is vicious on the hands. Nowadays for some reason soldiers wear gloves so thats ok for soft hands!

perhaps I will have to look into that how can I get the size of MSK 1 or a to size print of it or something similar, should I request 1095,1070/75,80or something in stainless?

@msblades53828 жыл бұрын
Tactical have you ever done a review or beat down on the MSK 1 survival knife it looks kinda small but a very intreiging they say it will do everything large or small knives will do. So I have to ask do you feel up to a challenge? I would love to see you put this knife threw a very intense and full review. looking at this knife as the only one ever made to do all things large and small knives are mentioned for. It would be a great video for all, for me it will satisfy my compulsive impulse to purchase one for myself as a bug out knife that will not fail me when it is needed.What do you think would be the best knife for EDC protection purposes and cross draw or moll carry or whatever it is called when the knife sits on your belt horizontal on your back or front. Thanks
@joey8obby8 жыл бұрын
Imho the MSK1 is an amazing blade, I just don't like the D2 steel (holds and edge well, corrosion resistant, but really hard to sharpen well in the field). It's also way too expensive for my liking. A custom maker could make nearly the same thing for half the price.

Their handles are fricken horrible for bushcrafting and camping, BUT it makes sense considering their purpose is for killing people in the dark of night. Their blades are ment to be used in quick tactical situations and many times that would be just after coming out of the water all sneaky and crap;) Seal team style! so I see why the handles are like that, no slipping out TWSS.

great vid! U need a glove to chop with this knife. Then the handle chews up your glove instead lol. I like my bk7 better for chopping wood. Made in America and less expensive. Another thing I don't like about the seal team is it tends to slip out of my hand when chopping... I have to keep repositioning it. A lanyard would probably fix it though.

Great fighting knife. It's plenty tough but it was designed to kill people. If Tac wants to test it out he's going to need to take somebody out or go hog hunting with a pack of hounds and kill a hog with it. Well I suppose a black bear would do but personally I'm much to sissy to actually try something that likely to result in more stitches in me than are in my pants. I do want to note that banging a high priced knife through an ultra hard log with knots and squirrelly grain is begging for pain in the wallet. I may be an old fool but I aint that stupid. No offence intended to Tac. I know you do it so we don't have to.

While H is Ok, But S.O.G. does a great job Tempering that steel, Cold Steel with their Sub Zero Quench is similar to the Cryo. Yeah actually it's pretty tough and holds a decent edge retention. Job well done. Thanx
