Through this in depth interview we learn that the world isn't black and white and we don't really have to play by the rules, it's possible to get away with certain things. We get to see the demeanor of an intelligent person, listen to the things that they would say and the way they respond to trick questions etc. This video isn't a waste of this it's super interesting and educational.

It's not that you'll be to apply the Pythagorean Theorem in real life, but you'll learn to think in different ways and be able to have the capacity to solve complex problems. Also, learning basic geometry and what not is just an application of the algebra that cements your understanding algebraic math in general. To say that algebra doesn't affect your field of learning would be incorrect. Once again, I see the same flaws in the SATs as you do, but until we have an efficient method to test the mental capacity of millions of students at one time... its, unfortunately, the best we have.

SAT gives you money for school, if you score high enough. I've had a few friends score a few hundred points short of a perfect score, and they got almost full tuition (25k-30k). P sure if you got a perfect score or the score this guy was getting for people, wasting money isn't even a problem(cause the students probably got a full scholarship to almost any IVY league).

Having a high gpa and low test scores shows you are not very smart and had your grades inflated or played the system and took easy classes, your just mad u got a bad score.

The SAT is one of the best indicators of college performance. Sure you have some lower scoring students outperforming higher scoring students, but in general the higher the score the better the college performance.

The SAT has nothing to do with college or life imo, it's just a measure of how good you are at taking standardized tests. I performed higher than several of my friends on the SAT, but I know for a fact that they are smarter than me and perform higher than me in most of my classes. Knowing how to answer the questions that the SAT asks doesn't teach you anything about life skills or the stress of college.

It's not how well a student will do in college, just if they learned the info they needed to in HS to advance onto college. High School is what is SUPPOSED to prepare kids for college (it doesn't).

Most good universities have mechanisms for gauging how good your score is relative to others in your high school.

If you were told by your friends that a perfect test taker that takes the SATs all the time for kids so they can get the grades to be on the top picks of colleges so you don't end up working at McDonalds & you didn't have to take a several hour long bullshit test, why wouldn't you take that offer?
