A college professor and his wife retire to Sleepy Village to find some peace and quiet so he can finish his book. But before they can settle down, the village inhabitants will test if they are in the 'right state of mind'.

This is my take on the complaints: Maybe the sound can't be cleaned up without more distortion or losing some of the background noises. Maybe that would take more equipment than he has. No one forced him to download these for us, so don't look a gift horse in the mouth. You are free not to listen or try to find a better version or try to make it sound better yourself. I am very grateful that he has taken the time to do these downloads for us so we can listen to and enjoy them. I also "like" every one that I listen to, just to show my appreciation. So, thank you Chilly Sunshine, for letting us listen to programs that a lot of people never knew existed, and for us that knew about them, bringing them back to our attention. You are appreciated!

Great Story. Audio quality is similar to that of the original AM broadcast. Great! Adds to the atmosphere!

Great story, if you enjoy a good story you don't pay that much attention to what's wrong. We as people have forgotten how to relax and enjoy without complaining.

That's true. People also seem to forget that it's fiction. You can use poetic license in fiction; you can make unrealistic events happen, have people act in illogical ways, all of it. When you are the author, you can do whatever you like. People forget that. They expect a fictional book to be exactly like a newspaper account or nonfiction book but with fictitious names. It takes all of the fun out of fiction.

They think 374 is a small town? My town is one square mile and has about 55 people in it! We have a general store, a town hall and not much else, lol.

Another episode, titled "The Three Elders of Lifeboat Landing," begins with essentially the same opening premise and very similar first and second acts...but the concluding third act is very different.

One thing people don't complain about is volume. This volume is too low and unfiltered full of static. It should be loud and clear and we should turn our volume down for our adjustments.

I had no problem hearing this with my cheap little earphones, but when I plugged my Apple earphones in BOY was it terrible.

I know people who needed to be "approved" before purchasing apartments in NYC. What seemed strange and intrusive when this was written isn't unusual now.

what is with the bad audio ? some episodes are clear and others are muffled , what"s up with that? i love this searies but i do wish they sounded more clear

They were recorded in various locations on cassette tapes from AM radio in the `70s. Maybe you could collect the whole series, have them digitally remastered and sell them on Ebay.

People recorded them off the radio, they have never been commercially released although I understand Himan Brown saved them and they have been transferred to a safe format, presumably digital. There's over 100 episodes that were rebroadcast in 1998 & 2000 and those were recorded properly, here's what they could all sound like if they would ever release them ~ kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gqqJhJCGks_Fcac.html
