Focus for offense has been on Washington, but Michigan is gonna put up points. Michigan's average for the year is 36 and they earned that against tougher defenses. Michigan is going 40+ for points against the Washington defense, something they did regularly vs the weaker defenses they faced. Even the best defenses didn't shut them out with Michigan's lowest score being 24 in two separate games, one of those being against the 2nd best defense in the country. Washington is going to struggle to put up points because Michigan's defense isn't just the best in the country but it was designed specifically to stop the style of offense that Washington has. I am guessing a lot of field goals as they struggle to move the ball into the red zone. Even if they get in the red zone, they don't have a good record of converting against the tougher D's they have seen, which aren't Michigan good. Washington hasn't see a defense like Michigan but they have had some games where they had trouble putting up points against mediocre defenses. That does not bode well. Not having a running game basically makes this an impossible win for them. Without a running game and only being able to rely on passing, Washington won't be able to keep the chains moving. A couple nice plays where they manage to beat Michigan's coverage is the best they can hope for and that isn't something that will happen consistently enough to let them outscore a Michigan offense that will be comfortable against a defense that is weak compared to what they have been used to seeing this season. For total points, I think you can plan on a combined low 60's with Michigan putting up at least 40.

Average 36 against crap teams, who cares. Try beating 8 ranked teams in one season. UW dosen't worry about stats the same way. The only one they care about is the W.

@@TS-di5zw Averaged 36 against some of the toughest teams defensively in the country. I don't know what you consider crap teams, but I don't think the number 2 and number 3 defenses would consider themselves crap, unless you are solely focused on the race to score points that those outside the Big Ten for some reason think is a football game.

@RealzFoSho people/teams cheat for a reason. If there was no advantage to them, they wouldn't do it. UW wins tonight because they are a better more complete team that had been tested way more than Michigan. Michigan was held to 4 field goals and 66 yards rushing vs Iowa. Tennessee scored 4 td against iowa with red shirt freshmen qb. Pretty sad when #25 team scores more then #1 team 😂😂. Tennessee had double rushing yards and 100+ more yards total offense. Not very elite if you ask me 😂😂.

Here we go again. Oregon will beat them. Ok, ok, Oregon will beat then at a neutral site. Ok, Texas is the most complete team, better athletes defense way too good. Ok, ok, Michigan. Michigan is the most complete team for real this time. Great defense better athletes. Again, with the underrating and the over rating. Michigan's defense beat the #129, 42, 108, 116, 120, 124, 102, 127, 72, 54, 69, 49, 133, and 71st offences in the nation. You impressed with that?! All the analytic Vegas gambling nerds, podcasters, TV pundits and analysts hypnotized by misleading and faulty computer models. - Let’s not get it twisted. Washington had a stretch where they were not healthy, injuries to key players and team wide flu that impacted their performance against Arizona and others. Then there was the kid that dropped the ball before crossing the goal line (-7 pts). - Now they’re up against a Michigan team with the 70th ranked offense in nation, 43rd ranked strength of schedule, and played only 4 ranked teams Penn State (10), Ohio State (2), Iowa (16), Alabama (4). McCarthy threw for 300+ yds. once (335) Purdue Corum Rushed for 100+ yds. twice (145) Penn State, Wilson had one 100 yd. receiving (143) Purdue. Ohio State’s Harrison Jr. went for 118 receiving yds. and Michigan’s vaunted defense had only 1 sack. That Rose Bowl game was sloppy and unimpressive by both teams. Alabama had no business being in the final 4. Lost to Texas and beat a bad Auburn team by a fluke play. Classic over value of SEC and Saban. An average Bama team gashed Michigan’s run defense for 172 yds. and Penn State gashed them for 164 yds. Does anyone think that Michigan could beat Oregon once let alone twice? Alabama threw for 116 yds., Penn State for 70. Yikes! In what universe is a Michigan defense going to hold a Washington offence under 300+ yds. passing.!? - Washington's defense only has to be good, competent which they are. Michigan's defense has to play lights out just like Oregon’s, and Texas had to. Washington doesn't have to win the line of scrimmage they just have to play even. They had to defend better mobile QBs than McCarthy, in Nix twice, Ward, Williams, and Ewers. Also defended much better receiver’s and rushers than what Michigan have on offer. Defense outlasted a high-powered USC offence. Stop drinking the Kool-Aid narrative that every team is more physical than Washington on both sides of the ball it’s fiction! Washington can match any team’s physicality and then some. Urban Meyer and many pundits were seduced by the size of Texas front 7. Washington proved to be just as physical as Oregon twice, Oregon State, and Texas, 3 of the most physical teams on both sides of the ball in the nation. Washington won all 4 physical match ups despite being underdogs in 3. Michigan isn’t more physical that those 3 teams. Common opponent Michigan State Spartans. Washington 39 Michigan State 28 Michigan 49 Michigan State 0 Penix Jr. 397 yds. 4 TDs, McCarthy 287 yds. 4 TDs, Davis 69 rush yds. 1 TD, Corum 59 rush yds. 1 TD, Polk 153 receiving yds. 3 TDs Barner153 receiving yds. 1 TD. - Many like to compare Washington to TCU, flawed and delusional, lacking insight but ok. Washington is more like TCU on steroids if you must use that comparison. And TCU hung 51 on them with 263 rush yds. A better comparison in the 2017 and 18 Clemson teams both underdogs to Alabama, and the 2019 LSU offence with Joe Burrow. - This Michigan team reminds me of all those Notre Dame teams that garner so much national attention and hype, their reputation gets them into the CFP, and they get blown out every time. Washington was the only team of the final 4 that wasn't nervous to start, the other teams had the big game jitters. Washington was relaxed and ready to play, got a little cocky late in the game with the flee flicker but that’s Husky football. Can't predict injuries, put the ball in your best backs hands, called trust. Washington had the same situation in the late stages of the Oregon game, Johnson busted through the line for 20 yards and sat down to run out the clock. Everyone dogging on the Huskies for not blowing teams out, silly. They played a much more demanding schedule ranked 10th in nation. Harbaugh took a favored 49er squad to the Super Bowl and lost. Lost as a favorite to TCU. Sorry Michigan this will be a track meet on a fast track, an all out arial assault. You’re going to be the sacrificial wolverine Monday night for Washington to finally have a long overdue blowout win. Penix Jr. spins the rock like Warren Moon, Doug Williams and Dan Marino. Washington 42 Michigan 24.

I have no doubt Washington can hang with Michigan's defense, but this Michigan team WANTS it. Being in the Semi's twice already and losing twice will haunt you. You know what motivates people more than the reward? The fear of losing and not achieving your goal. They have tasted the loss and they are gonna be ready to bring it.

Michigan faced much tougher defenses this season. Averaged 36 ppg to Washington's 38 (rounded up). Michigan has heard all year that their offense isn't that great but they were wading through the big Big Ten defenses. Michigan only does 24? Michigan's worst score of the year was 24 in two separate games. One of those times was against the number 2 offense in the country. Washington holding Michigan to 24 does not seem likely. Washington doesn't have the best stats for converting in the red zone. The few times Michigan allows them to get there, that lower conversion stat is going to hurt. On the other side, Michigan does well with red zone conversions. Washington is the worst defense Michigan has faced all season long. Michigan comfortably score into the 40's against the weaker defenses they faced. You got your numbers wrong on the Michigan State game. Washington was 41 to the Spartan's 7. That makes it look better for Washington but still not great that Michigan, who has the supposedly inferior offense, outscored Washington against the same opponent, an opponent that builds their team specifically to try and beat their in-state rivals and in theory should have been better equipped to handle Michigan than Washington. Washington's 3rd down conversions percentage isn't great considering how weak the defenses they faced were compared to Michigan and how often they will be seeing a third down. Hopefully Washington's kicker is feeling good for tonight because they are going to have to lean on him hard to put up points. Michigan's defense is in a different league from the Oregon and Texas defenses. Washington hasn't been tested by anything close to the Michigan defense. Michigan's defense puts a lot of pressure on the pocket and has elite coverage. Washington hasn't had to deal with a high level of both at the same time. Michigan's defense was built specifically and successfully stop the CJ Stroud Buckeyes. Outstanding quarterback Michigan did have nerves starting out against Alabama. On the other hand, Alabama did not have nerves starting out. They developed as the game went on and they were dealing with that Michigan defense consistently ruining their game plan. Expecting the same story to play out for Washington where as soon as that defensive pressure is applied the confidence starts to fade and mistakes start to happen. Funny how people define a demanding schedule. Outside the Big Ten, it is based on how high your opponent scores and you still manage to beat them. In the Big Ten, it is a whole different world where defense is actually valued and it isn't all about who threw the ball the furthest. Penix will be constantly scrambling and see no openings when he looks down field. When he finally sees one, a Michigan defender will be swooping in. A few big plays may happen but not near enough to make up for Michigan's offense having its way with a Washington defense that would be the bottom of the Big Ten if they were already part of the conference. By the way, welcome to the Big Ten. This is going to be the start of a great rivalry after Washington learns how to build to survive in the Big Ten. Flip your score, Michigan 42, Washington 24. That is a whole lot closer to what it is going to be with Michigan likely a little north of that and Washington a touchdown or two south.
