He talks with CBS News chief election & campaign correspondent Robert Costa about gladly courting controversy, whether by mocking politicians or inviting them to his show. No intelligent person should agree with someone 100% of the time, so even when I don't like or agree with what he says, I respect him because he is not about following a "party line" of the Left or the Right and calls out the BS of both when he sees fit. Its about thinking for yourself, a rare commodity these days.

Maher still remains partisan to Democrats as he confirmed saying the GOP alarms him. Although he’s experienced an epiphany in 2020 due to the woke mob actions, Bill will always favor the left vs being “alarmed” by them too.

I can list the reasons why I don't like Maher. I watch him because he can say what the right is thinking regardless if what they think is true in a few sentences. I don't want to watch 20 hours of fox news a week to figure that out on my own. He also has a bunch of often older guests that also have opinions i disagree with, but it gets me out of my bubble without it becoming something I need to spend several hours a week on.

However the thing that keeps him in the “good” graces (for now) is that he has some/many interesting guests on his shows and gets the conversation into places you can’t always get with many comedy and/or opinionated and/or straight news programming!!!

Bill doesn't have a super power, he just meets the barest minimum threshold IQ for being able to participate in human conversation. It's easy to agree with someone on SOMETHING if they're playing both sides. I just like his view that conservatives and liberals are comparable in nefariousness because the right is criminal and 'alarming' while he thinks the left complains too much sometimes. Yep, because those infractions are equal in magnitude. Dude just hates young people, I'm convinced.

The main problem with Maher is that he doesn't respect young people. I find it hilarious that his criticism of the left is that they complain too much, essentially, while the right is 'alarming' and straight up criminal. But yeah, people speaking out against a war they're not actively participating in is comparable to supporting politicians that are in bed with Russia-brilliant takes, Bill.

Yeah, CBS television industries have it in their contracts as owners of the studio where this show is broadcast from .... CBS controls a lot of what is setup in their owned space. I've never been a big fan of Maher, but I agree he speaks for the "vast middle." The reason I know is because I agree with him about half the time. He claims to be liberal, but he's more moderate than he would admit. We need more voices like his, and we need far more people who are balanced enough to see both sides of issues as he does. The polarization of the country is horrible and has led to Trump and Biden....we can do better.

He's pro-gay marriage, for gun control, for universal healthcare, pro-choice on abortion rights, believes that climate change should be treated as an existential threat, believes the military budget should be cut in half...this would all have been considered very progressive not so long ago. I've watched him since "Politically Incorrect" and he's always presented like he knows and has NO idea most of the time. Bold Ignorance. He plays well to the Dunning Kruger crowd, and his audience is filled with people who force laughter at the most unfunny jokes, to drive others to laugh.

His show is just a series of him watching clips and then reacting to them like they're the most shocking thing on the planet and shouting at the camera for 3mins. I used to watch his show religiously and after a while I saw just how lazy it is.

I'm pretty conservative but believe Bill is one of the only voices of sanity left in the political media. His quote that I repeat regularly continues to be true today - "If you do goofy s***, regardless of what side you're on, I'm going to make fun of you". I'm not tribal . My positions on issues guide me . If republicans suddenly believed in climate change, a woman's right to choose, sensible gun laws etc...I'd be open to voting for them. But they will never change on these issues because that is what their party is based on now. And the irony is many of them don't even care about abortion , many of them believe in climate change and want sensible gun laws but they won't say it cause they are afraid of someone primarying them

When Maher got cancelled all those years ago, I defended his right to expression even though I disagreed with what he said. But for him to say, "Don't be tribal" is beyond ironic. He pandered to one side almost without exception.

Propping up the right while pretending to be on the left seems awfully extremist. He supports the Palestinian genocide campaign. That's awfully extreme. His grift is to gaslight progressives as extremists because of where they sit on a political spectrum for the purpose of making $. What's extreme about higher wages, free health care & free education? It's fine to disagree, but presenting progressives as 'crazy' or 'extreme' is extremely dangerous in this current political zeitgeist.

He would do well to follow his own advice. Don´t be TRIBAL. He couldn´t be more Tribal with regards to Israel/Gaza. He has not once even mentioned the massive death toll in Gaza while week after week he repeats his unconditional support for Israel which he calls a non-apartheid state and the killing of civilians and children is not genocide in his eyes. I´ve been watching him ever since Politically Incorrect, never miss a show, but lately his TRIBALISM saddens me and even shocks me.

I don't have any problem with who he brings on no matter how revolting. That said, if he does have these right wing liars on, he has to at the very least push back. I watched how Steve Bannon, and Russel Brand spewed all kinds of propaganda without proper pushback from Bill. Sometimes He tries too hard to prove his point of allowing anyone on and he forgets his job is to make them answer for their lies. That said, I think he's very talented. I like him, and I love the show. I think the show is a great idea, and it's not soured for all these years. Good for Bill.

No matter who the “dig” was directed at, it was convincing and humorous only for those in the bubble to the Left. I cannot believe Stewart participated in that recent documentary on George Carlin. Shortly before his death, Carlin commented on the rise of woke illiberalism: “I saw it coming from the Right, but I never saw it coming from the Left.” Carlin would be ashamed of the “speech is violence” ethos on college campuses and selective irony-impairment of comedians-turned-ideological-panderers like Jon Stewart, John Oliver, etc.

Bill Maher complained that Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert promoted a "false sense of equivalency between the left and right" because their "Rally to Restore Sanity" occasionally mocked ONE liberal commentor (Keith Olbermann) amidst all the conservatives they mocked. In other words, Maher thought those two were too balanced and too friendly to conservatives. I am NOT interested in what Bill Maher has to say.
