CC pocket radio, amzn.to/43VALnt
This little CC pocket radio out performs the grundig radio ten fold. It was about the same price too. The AM band picked up dozens of stations while the grundig only picks up 2. This is an area I fell short in during our power outage. We didn’t just lose power, we lost internet and cell service as well we were in a complete information blackout. The grundig was a complete failure and totally useless in an emergency. The CC pocket radio will fill that gap nicely.

I'm sitting here in my man cave, catching up on bills and comments and I'm thinking about the level of gratitude and thankfulness I feel. I was convinced I was going to die when I went into the hospital. In fact, I had hurt for so long, been sick for so long, That I would have welcomed death. Now, I feel better than I have felt in several years and I am just overflowing with thankfulness. It brings tears to my eyes when I think about all the people I've never met, who I honestly feel a familial type of love for. All the miracles that have happened to and around me as of late. My wife going above and beyond what a man has a right to expect from his spouse. I'm truly blessed, and I think most folks would have a brighter outlook on life if they could just stop a minute and recognize all the good things in their lives.

I’m glad you at least have a way to check the weather. I have one I keep close by just in case. I think I got it at Radio Shack, sure miss that place. Yum, fresh homegrown tomato is so good. I have pepper cabbage in the fridge I’m canning today. It’s delicious and in the winter makes a yummy coleslaw. Be safe and have a blessed day!

What is a Pepper Cabbage? I couldn't find a cabbage of that kind, nor safe canning instructions for any non-fermented cabbage? This is one of those, You can teach an old dog, new tricks, moments. 🙂

@@bctruck I really like those, too! You may have to go on raccoon patrol or consider a temporary electric fence (if that will actually keep them away from the cukes.)

@@oldtimerlee8820 it’s an old Amish recipe. 1 med head of cabbage 1 red, green or yellow bell pepper 1 medium onion 1 large carrot Wash and shred your vegetables. Put 1 teaspoon over your veggies and refrigerate overnight. Next day, drain the veggies in a strainer. Make a brine of 1 cup vinegar 1 1/2 cups sugar 1 teaspoon celery seed (optional) 1 teaspoon mustard seed (optional) Bring your brine to a boil and add brine to your jars of chopped veggies. Pack your jars with your chopped drained veggies. Add your brine to 1 inch headspace. Debubble jars and add more brine if needed. Wipe the rims of your jars and put your lids and rings on your jars. Waterbath can for 15 minutes Take the jars out of the waterbath canner and sit till the next day. After 24 hours, take rings off your jars and wash your jars. When jars are dry, label and date them. Easy and so good.

The bandit cats belong to my freind with the indoor bobcat. The momma coon was killed and he took the two babies and will give them a forever home.

Thanks for this Brad. I have had nearly zero radio reception here since all the band with changes. Total absence of tv. I’ve been through two radios with good reputation,but they’re worthless here. I had a 60 year old Grundig that worked but it finally died. The new one was worthless. I’m going to look into these. BTW I had fresh tomato salad with avocado and onions yesterday . Nothing like the real thing.👍 One difference though, I grew mine in my living room under an led light. If I grow them outside, they get a local blight. I originally planted these tomatoes about ten years ago from seed. They’re propagated through cuttings. They’ve become like trained house pets. They make tomatoes, I eat them and trim away the dead branches, give them a little high phosphorus fertilizer and say “make more”. They do. A single plant will produce continuously for up to six years before needing propagation by cuttings. I had no idea this was possible until I did it. They’re little salad tomatoes that are called “Tiny Tim” mixed with a similar type named “Red Robin”. They range from the size of a golf ball to the size of the large “crocky” marble. After taste is ham and cheese. They taste best during a blizzard. The light was cheap and uses about five bucks a month in electricity . Worth it to me for fresh tomatoes all year round. It’s just an led panel with a rheostat and fan. An amazing work light too. I have two ,two gallon pots full of tomatoes under one. It’s amazing. Runs cool enough to touch.

Good lord! That sounds amazing, like something NASA would do on another planet. This little radio is amazing. I’m glad I bought it. That was a significant hole in my preparedness. The little radio that was useless for me, was a grundig. I think I said sangean in the video. I’ve had bigger grundig that were good radios in the last. I’ve had a sangean radio that was better than average too.

@@bctruck It’s been like living on another planet for the last ten years around here. No way will that stop me from growing tomatoes. I think it may be genetic .You know Brad, with the sunlight you have available there, you may be able to power one of theses 120 watt led lights during winter with a solar panel .Eating fresh home grown tomatoes right off the plant in winter is a delight that is now affordable with the new led tech. As well as these low powered cool running lights work , I wouldn’t be surprised if NASA did have something to do with their development.

*Home Grown Tomatoes! YES!* Couldn't agree more. Refrigeration kills the flavor, when compared to a tomato that's never shivered. One of my favorite breakfasts of the past was to dice a homegrown tomato, cover it was hot fatback grease and sop it up with a homemade biscuit. Another to open a hot biscuit, slather on real homemade butter, add a thick slice of home grown tomato, salt, pepper and devour it! (I just ate breakfast and now the juices are flowing thinking about meals of tomatoes & biscuits!) Enjoy them while to can. Thankful that the storm spared them, considering the chaos around you. Glad you have a weather radio that works in your area. 👍👌 Enjoyed a glimpse of 🦝 Hope you, Charly and all around you have a blessed Monday. Godspeed if you venture forth today.

My problem is the raccoons. For some reason they try and beat us to the tomatoes. The worst part is, they just take a bite or two and leave it to rot.

@@bctruck The last year that I planted a garden (large one for food preserving), deer were the invaders. Was planning to can 49 quarts of green beans (7 canner loads). Deer picked them the night before I planned to pick them. Several sizes of deer tracks between the rows. We picked enough to have some for supper. To use an old cliché, that was the straw that broke the camels back. For a couple of years we'd already battled wilt killing tomatoes, not enough pollinators for okra, late spring frost, squash borers, etc. The land needed to lay fallow. After the deer visit, it did. So, I can appreciate your battle with nature.

@@bctruck I understand the situation. A couple of years ago, we had mama skunk and 3 babies roaming about our place. One baby was almost pure white. Needless to say, we were very careful, when we went outdoors. BTW, one night, she sprayed something near our HVAC unit. I can't describe the aroma that filled our home for a few hours. I was glad when she moved on, to say the least. Haven't seen one in a long time, yet do get a whiff of that distinctive odor, once in a while. Thank you for taking the humane approach. I couldn't do otherwise, either.

That looks to be a good radio. That reminded me of the old pocket transistor radios of the 1950-60s I had as a kid. Those baby racoons look like they are already attached to the human. Thanks for the review.

The farthest I’ve received on fm so far is 85 miles. Night time is when I’m gonna see how far out I can receive on AM.

I was just checking out some different weather radios since last week. I was sitting here and a weather alert popped up on my phone, at the same time warning sirens went off outside! I was freaking out.

Thanks for the lengthy review! I have a Sangean mmr88. So far so good. However some years ago I was wondering how this models speaker sounded with it being so small. Not bad!

I bet if you hung a steel Slinky antenna, you'd be able to pull in more stations. Although what youve got is really good for a pocket radio. Now all you need is solar rechargable batteries, and a small solar charger.

@@bctruck I soldered on a small alligator clip to the end of the existing antenna wire so I could clip it to a steel Slinky. Really helped the reception.

Question for you, I got mine this week. And mine has an audible hiss at lower volumes. On any band, headphones or speaker. Is it the same with yours also? My sony p27 and sangean sr35 dont have this issue. And are great. But the cc pocket has this hiss that never goes away, unless you turn up the volume to where it disappears. As someone who listens at low volumes, its pretty bad :(

I dont have that problem. My guess is that because of the exceptional receive on it, its picking up some kind external interference.

@@bctruck Yeah, i contacted them via their website. And they said that its a known issue with a new part because of the sensitivity to the audio. Its not about the reception unfortunately. They said they would be fixing it for the production run coming this July though. So I just have to wait. Its a total bummer for me. I listen to talk at lower volumes, and that hiss is headache inducing.

There is very bad reception without the antenna on FM. It isn’t needed for AM. It is a 3.5 mm.

Morning BC, It seems I got unsubbed?? Yep I have several little handhelds SW radios mostly Sangean seem to work ok. Didnt know you got whacked. I Bought a ReKtis (sp) for my shop its a small protable with SW but no weather although I have several weather radios. Ill chk this one out.

Nice little radio! I like having access to AM radio since most of the emergency stations are on AM. Have you heard that they are phasing out AM radios in automobiles now. It really sucks because of all the hurricanes we have and all the emergency info is only on AM in my area. PS> Kill the raccoon...eat the meat...make a hat. Save The Maters!

So all the research and investigation I put into finding a reliable radio with multiple capabilities, good company reputation, extremely liberal warranty policies, are all null because you think it’s to much for a dependable and well built radio.
