CCC LET2 - E-Z Pack HCSLA Manual Side Load Garbage Truck

Well, I can't believe it, but today marks 10 years to the day since I first joined KZfaq, originally known as "TrashMonkey22"! From the time of my earliest memories up to just over a year I joined KZfaq, Waste Management serviced my neighborhood with E-Z Pack HCSL and occasionally HCSLA manual side loaders, so I figured what better way to celebrate this major milestone than with a throwback to where it all began for me!
Onto the specifics of this video! Here is Gruetter Sanitary Service's compost truck - a Crane Carrier LET2 with the mighty E-Z Pack HCSLA manual side load body! As many of you will likely recall, I shot some video of this truck about four years ago, but unfortunately I was battling a gnarly case of food poisoning at the time and ended up with a short little video that left a lot to be desired. So on a recent trip to Portland with West Coast Refuse Trucks, I decided to check out this classic machine once again! This time armed with better cameras (and a much happier stomach) I finally came away with a video that I feel really good about! I really tried to put a lot of effort into capturing every angle of this old beast this time, including numerous up-close packer shots and I definitely feel like I finally gave this truck the justice it deserves and I hope you all agree!
So without further ado, here's a huge thanks to all of the drivers and crews I've filmed over the last 10 years, to all of the fellow garbage maniacs I've met along the way, and especially to all of you viewers that I've been able to share this fascinating, albeit odd, hobby with! Here's to 10 more years and countless more adventures to come!

What was that witchcraft you were hiding from us at 08:50 Mr TnT? You strategically turned the camera and basically said NOTHING TO SEE HERE when that things started turning the corner.

I didn't even notice I had gotten that in the background until I got home and reviewed my footage, but fear not! That Frankenstein of a recycling machine was also documented that morning as well, and will surely be seeing the light of day soon ;)

What a waste of time and manpower.....not to mention unsafe...having the helper ride on the side.

wolfman sicario u understand that they also ride on the back of rear loaders. Which is just also unsafe. And oh well that he does it. If he gets hurt, it’s on him and the company not u. Don’t like it? Don’t watch it.

Josh. In a rear loader's rear step, your not facing additional axles and wheels of the truck that can run over you when its traveling forwards. That's why riding on a side loader's sill is considered unsafe. Its because you're still forwards if the rear axles that can potentialy run over you. Still it's strange to see this side loader having a handhold and step that is allowing for riding forwards of the rear axles like this guy is doing. I dunno, everything evolves risk, safety is just the practice of mitigating and limiting exposure to said risk. But to be truly safe is to stay at home and do no work at all, which isn't very realistic. So again, it's what risks and level of exposure are you willing to take to get the work done.
