@@BrianCervantes-bg1cm Yeah it's honestly crazy to risk your freedom over an 8 hour ccw class. It only takes one Saturday out of your life to get a concealed carry license. The class is ridiculous and a money grab but life is full of things like that. For an example we have to pay for our drivers license stickers every year and it too is nothing but a money grab but it's something that we have to do to stay out of trouble. To risk your freedom and life just to save a hundred dollars is crazy. Most people waste over a hundred dollars every month just by buying candy, gatorade and nicotine from their local gas stations. If he ever got pulled over by the police with his firearm and got caught I wouldn't feel sorry for him at all. It's only one day out of your life to get a ccw license.

I’m in AL. I do appreciate your openness & the “you might want to if..” discussion. Growing up in a hunting family, I learned gun safety & shooting from the time I was 4. (My dad started taking me squirrel hunting with my older brothers.) When I purchased my first handgun, after a divorce I was advised by an old high school friend who was a LEO for a state agency not to get a permit (this was before AL became permit-less carry). His reasoning was no one in our nosy little county needed to know I had a gun, since I had 2 little girls & we were alone in a rural area. Fast forward 16 years, I’m married, my 2 “little girls” are 17 & 18, junior & senior in high school & my son is 8. Now, I’m getting ready to purchase my 18 year old daughter her first handgun for COLLEGE because I can’t trust college “police” to keep her safe from leftist ideological lunatics on campus nor can I trust the that a DA in her college town to keep criminals off the streets. This will be the scariest thing I’ve ever had to go through with her!!! I wasn’t scared when she went through a major back surgery when she was 12. I wasn’t scared when she started driving, because I had her on the interstate the very first day, I had her driving in storms, & her dad had her hauling a boat & equipment. What 15 year old gets that kind of training?!! My girls do! I wanted them self sufficient! Not the “I don’t need a man” mindset, but the when SHTF & she’s alone I don’t have to worry that she doesn’t have the ability to make it home. (Granted, as her mom I always worry!) But today, I feel the law is making harder for me to trust that she CAN make it safely! I’ve never been so nervous in my life!!! I’ve always been a stickler for the rules & I used to teach college, but I’m to the point that I don’t even care what her college’s rules are! I want her protected all of the time!!!!

Here's my response to your statement - take this with a grain of salt, as it comes from my simple-minded point of view - There are 3 houses that guns should NEVER be needed - School houses, Court houses, and church houses, yet these seem to be the places they are most needed by honest folks. As pitiful as it is to say this, if anything horrible happens in one of those places, and an otherwise law-abiding citizen is armed and drills someone who desperately needs it, while they have technically committed a crime - 1 - no jury will ever convict them And 2- they will name streets and buildings after them. Thank you! It's sad to me that I find I can't get excited for her because of the fear I have for her. And I'm the mom that would kick them (not literally) out of the car dropping them off for pre-k & Kindergarten & be like "Have fun! Go make friends! Learn something!" lol I never cried, got upset, or was worried. Never. Sending them off to drive was never scary. This is totally different because of the state of the country. I've taught in a local college & I know their rules. When campus police gave us Emergency Preparedness talks (for faculty) for things like tornados we also talked about active shooters. I'd sit in my classrooms before the start of the semester & run through scenarios in my head, so I'd be as prepared as possible. One faculty member asked about their gun policy, which was basically that they're not allowed on campus, but they couldn't do much about carrying in our cars. However, these are different times. I'm truly a rule follower (except as a teen, lol), but these are desperate times that will only look worse during fall semester when the election rolls around, not to mention illegal criminals & gang members, & we have 1-2 million terrorists (per the FBI) in our country, etc.. My daughters are young, beautiful & Christian, so they're automatically targets for many. My oldest is extremely mature & not a hair flipping, clueless moron. (I'm so fortunate & thankful! lol) She'll know how to conceal extremely well & be well trained, not by me because teen girls don't listen to their moms. lol Also, thank you & the Sheriff for your service!!! I appreciate you both! I literally just talked my younger daughter out of joining the national guard in mid-Feb. At any other time, I'd have been on board & super proud. But she was going to go train this summer. She turns 18 in Nov., so who knows what Biden could have us involved in by then! Or he could just send her to be "bait"/a sitting duck in Syria. I live in Christian County, Missouri and I 100% agree that a CCW permit is still a good idea despite our open carry law and I maintain my permit. The last time I went to renew it though the women working the counter at the Sheriff's Office where this is handled made a painfully obvious effort to make this as difficult for me as they could, to the point of deliberately overcharging me for the fee (Gov. Parson had put a moratorium on renewal late fees due to the pandemic at the time, when it was difficult to get a renewal done) and printing my "new" license with the same expiration date and figuring I wouldn't notice. It took five or six trips over a span of almost three months, because of the "printer problems" and "appointments in advance" they demanded (we're a small county; there is never anyone waiting in line at that counter) until I finally got sick of it and demanded to speak to our own Sheriff as we are a Shall Issue state and they were passive-aggressively refusing to give me a renewed permit even after taking money from me. At that point their printing machine suddenly "miraculously" started working again and they reluctantly gave me my new permit. What is a person's recourse when something like this happens?

In NC, if you have a ccw and are approached by a law enforcement officer ,you must inform the officer that you are armed. If you go through any kind of check point in your vehicle you must keep your hands in full sight to the officer and inform them that you are armed. If you are the driver of the vehicle you are taught to place both hands up high on the steering wheel until the officer gives you permission to move them. The only question I've ever been asked is where is the firearm located on my body.

@carlking8530 Not in Florida. If the interaction with LEOs does not pertain to the person carrying then there is no need to make a declaration. If asked then show and tell. Good Advice. You can never get too much educations when it comes to firearms. Something that people who carry from Missouri might want to take note of is if you travel into Illinois(which is right next door) while your permit is not recognized to walk around with, you are permitted to possess a loaded firearm in your car. Without your permit from your home state it's a felony. Unfortunately the firearms laws are not standardized throughout the country and without knowing the laws of the state you in it can be too easy to inadvertently break the law.

If you don't "print," carry without a holster, or have some sort of negligent discharge, they'll never know. If you draw and/or fire in righteous defense of your self or others, any prosecutor (barring LA or NYC) will want to make a very nice deal to avoid jury nullification. You see once you're on the gun carrier list, it never goes away and only becomes a target matrix for the tyrants one day.
